Nadine Davidoff has had enough of men assuming that what gay women really want is a bloke.
When you see two girls walking down the street arm in arm there are a few of safe assumptions you could make about the scene; either the girls are friends or they are gay - they could even be partners. However, a certain subset of heterosexual men inexplicably arrive at a completely different conclusion: that the girls are putting on this display for their benefit and that they secretly want the men to join in the fun.
Who knows where this misconception comes from? Centuries of male privilege perhaps; a notion that everything in this world is created for their enjoyment? But this is the post-feminist age and men have long since ceased to be our supreme rulers. Which poses the question: what part of the word "gay" do these men not understand?
We are not helped, of course, by the likes of Madonna and Britney Spears, who recently engaged in a tongue-twister for precisely the purpose of revving up heterosexual men. I am sure they enjoyed themselves (well, Britney surely did) but did they realise that this wanton publicity stunt trivialises and misrepresents every genuine display of affection between lesbian women?
A case in point; one warm Sunday afternoon, I was walking along Bondi Beach hand-in-hand with my girlfriend. Deep in conversation, we suddenly became aware of a fat, hairy man barrelling towards us with his arms outstretched. "How 'bout a threesome ladies?" he leered as he attempted to enfold us in a group hug. It didn't take us very long to come up with an appropriate response to this invasion, and we promptly told the fool to bugger off. But sometimes, it's a little bit more tricky.
For example, my girlfriend dropped me off at yoga one evening, and as we parted, she gave me a quick kiss goodbye. "Nice kiss, girls," drawled a male member of the class as he stepped into the room. As I followed him into a quiet candlelit studio with members of the class already deep into their postures, it didn't seem quite right to ruin the serenity with a loud four-letter word.
It does help though, to have your mother on hand. Strolling past Ravesi's in Bondi one hot afternoon (yes, hand-in-hand with my girl) the hairy boofheads spilling out of every open window could not contain their excitement, and proceeded to hassle us with catcalls and whistles. By now, quite used to this graceless display, we walked blithely on. Not so my mother, for whom this was a new experience. "What's wrong with you all?" she scolded as she turned to face them. "They're not doing it for your benefit."
I have never seen a bunch of men sink faster into their beers. Clearly, if there's one thing heterosexual men are still afraid of, it's their mothers.

When you point to the legions of women raping men, you will have made a counterpoint. Until you do that, you have really understood my point in the first place.
I went back to San Francisco in 85' to visit my old Naval base and my wife and I went to the Castro district. I didn't know anything about it but the first time I saw two guys walking down the street, holding each others butts and kissing I let out a big "holy sh*t! Look at that! That's sick!". My wife was frantically grabbing my arm and trying to drag me out of there. It was just too much for an old Tennessee boy.
Sex is a situation where the man has the power, which they grant the woman. The power, the physical ability to say no, comes from the man. He grants this power to the woman. While this may not be always literally true, it is psychologically and spiritually true of the sexual relationship between man and woman.
...we will have to agree that rape (as you yourself agreed that it is) is natural. However, this is known to not be the case. Otherwise, instead of the elaborate mating rituals that many different species engage in, the male of the species would simply take the female anytime and any place of his choosing. So, can you explain this disrecepancy?

Define "natural". There are plenties of species that practice rape.
The butch dyke who wants another woman IS a victim of some sort of mental trauma (molestation, rape etc). As a result of her rape she tries to associate with her attacker and thus eliminate the wrongness of the event (If my attacker likes girls then I'm supposed to also). Standard brain washing. Or in this case, un-intended recruiting to a homosexual lifestyle.
If she wasn't mentally damaged she wouldn't desire other women. Nor would she try so hard to be a man

I disagree. While women are God's gift to men, men are also God's gift to women.
A man without a woman is incomplete. A woman without a man is incomplete. We were designed as half-creatures and only in the union of marriage do we become whole.

Look at any couple. In almost every instance, women seek out men who are larger and stronger than they are, as well as more aggressive and more assertive.
One stereotypical dysfunctional marriage is the assertive wife and submissive husband. He is miserable, she doesn't respect him.
The fact that the average man is physically more powerful than the average woman provokes debate is an astounding commentary to the dishonesty and prevalance of feminist thought.

I guess anything that happens in nature can be described as natural, but I think what some people here are suggesting is that rape is not a very successful strategy for succeeding in our natural world. It's not hard to find people who think that rape is the natural order of things - just visit any maximum security prison. But their view of rape is a minority point of view and most societies dispose of or segregate people who think like that either before or soon after they begin trying to spread their genes around. ;-)
I think a lot of the replies to this request are valid, but I also think that men have been conditioned from the time they looked at their first Playboy to accept 2 hot women making out as acceptable. We've been conditioned by the soft porn we all looked at as kids.
First of all man is not like other animals and behavioral comparisons don't hold up. A female animal comes into heat only infrequently while a woman is capable of sexual activity almost constantly (under the right conditions).
Rape, however, is natural in the human. That's why every religion preaches against it and every code of law mentions it. If it was unnatural (and thus rare) it wouldn't get any attention at all.
(note that murder, theft, other sexual perversions etc are all human nature. We are failed creations always seeking to serve ourselves first and to hell with the rest of the world. Only training and social pressure keeps our baser inclinations in check)
The truth is that man has the power over woman. This is both a physical truth (on average a man will always be stronger than a woman) and a biblical truth. The thing that separates us from the animals (and the liberals) is that we choose to restrain ourselves in order to live in a peaceful society. While rape has a high level of success in passing on one's genes (and satisfying one's sexual urges) it has a low level of success for continued peaceful relations and a long life.
Men are self-centered but we're also smart. By letting the woman have the power we assure ourselves (on average) of more sexual activity that we don't have to fight for.
