Democratic Presidential Candidate John Kerry may have violated the rules governing last Thursday's presidential debate.
According to Section 5 (pps 4 and 5) of the Memorandum of Understanding that was negotiated and agreed upon by both the Bush and Kerry campaigns:
(c) No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate. ...
(d) Notwithstanding subparagraph 5(c), the candidates may take notes during the debate on the size, color and type of paper each side prefers. Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium, table or other structure to be used by the candidate in that debate.
On Sunday, INDC Journal and Daily Recycler produced a video and close-up stills showing that Senator Kerry apparently violated the rules signed by his campaign.
The video shows Kerry pulling what looks like crib notes from his jacket and placing them on his lectern at the start of the debate.
The website zombietime.com has posted a frame-by-frame view of the event here.
Use of crib notes during the debate would constitute a material breach of Memorandum of Understanding, though it is unclear if Kerry would be sanctioned.

Question 1: Did FR or Drudge have it first.
Question 2: If it was posted on FR somewhere else long ago, how did I come upon this thread and not the other when I did a search for the story.
LOL!
Was there a breadbox as well on the podium?
I don't think the President expected the cheating and an ambush, and that's what he got. Shows the Democrats will do literally anything to win this election.
Does a bear take a dump in the woods?!
I slightly disagree. I think the Prez is a smart man. He knew the character of Lehrer. I'm sure he was prepared to be ambushed in questioning, even prepared for the audience to be stacked. I'm certain he knew the MSM would spin it as a loss for Kerry and polls would be forthcoming.
The one thing I do NOT believe he anticipated was Kerry brazenly extracting a cheat sheet. We didn't expect it, why would he? Coming into the next debates we're all going to be aware of how low they'll sink now, so all expectations will be covered.
Perhaps you're right. In the next two debates, though, everyone is going to be watching Kerry like a hawk. He won't be able to get away with that cheating easily, which obviously comes naturally to him. I was sickened by how smoothly he did it, smiling all the while. He would be someone who would slide a dagger in your back, and smile at you while he did it.
InDC had it first, Drudge picked it up, then it was posted to FR from Drudge.
Thank goodness it was Fox and not CBS!
all the pics of kerry trying to throw show he's a righty.
It was another thread first, than I notified Drudge and when he out it up I posted a thread on it. Sometimes I have trouble with the search function too.
Here is the link.

Most agree that it is a piece of paper or 3x5 cards. Even if it was a pen it was not allowed.
Sonar, that post deserves it's own thread, it is very revealing about what Kerry did that night at Debate.
I am sure that Rush will cover this today, and there are two more camera angles that have not been covered.
The other angles are taken from about 10-15 above the speakers on the left and right of the stage.
There is some suggestion now that he slid the card or paper out with his left hand (which can be seen in the video) while taking out a black pen with his right hand, to create further distraction.
Someone last night said they have been showing the video on Fox. There are some that think it is 3x5 cards.

"cheated"
Hey guys, if George Bush can handle world "cheaters" with WMD's and handle and fight a war, I am sure he can handle a "scumbag, lying, and cheating Senator from MA. Problem is (and I hope I am wrong), the President was good but could have put Kerry away for good but "chose" not too. I have to assume it was by choice because some of Kerry's comments and replies were "softballs" waiting to be "knocked out of the park" but were only deflected. GWB did not have to repeat the same lines over and over because there are plenty of other lines(by Kerry) Bush could have used. I hope he goes more on the attack this Friday, but a Friday debate(right before the weekend) seems like it will be a low viewer night. I am praying GW will be stronger from here. But I fear a close race will come down to cheaters and lawyers which could spell trouble.
