XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX

DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?

Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:

"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."

So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?

What did Kerry place on the podium?

Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.

[A tight zoom of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious "card" from his jacket. 14 seconds into video, after commerical]

A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.

"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."

Here's why it makes sense- when we give speeches to groups most of us bring along a few index cards- as reminders. For example- if you were giving a speech about flower gardens in England your cards might say things like " cottage garden"..."castle gardens" " medieval period" ...as a jog for your memory.

Exactly. If I'm up speaking w/o note cards that have key figures, dates, names to jog my memory, I'm dead. It's interesting, go on the CSpan debate when they're side by side(podium watch) and watch the first couple questions Bush is responding to. All the while it looks like F'n is fiddling with his pen and writing and it looks as if at some points he's pretending to be writing, while he could be referencing his "suit pocket cheat sheets" - quite interesting.

My husband just pointed out, the "cheat notes" were forged, so it doesn't count. (He THINKS he's funny......LOL!)

ummm hello??? don't you get it?

if he had a cheat sheet, he could've wrote down all the important talking points he wants to spout at the president

by glancing over it he can be reminded that " oh yeah now i gotta get gwb on this and that this and that "

having something like that is invaluable

I just read the threads and did some easy pic work.

I just zoomed in and lightened the pics up.
I added another one in my site on the kerry page.

Don't understand your thinking. It doesn't matter WHAT he had on the card--maybe it was a simple reminder not to pick his nose. The fact that he HAD a card or paper is all that matters. Can't he stay straight for a national debate. Can we trust this man? I don't think so. He's always been smarmy and continues on that track.

I normally do not make excuses but I'll make one here. It was widely reported earlier in the day that President Bush was touring the damaged areas from Hurricane Jeanne and meeting with those that had suffered from it. He was tired from that. He still stayed on message and did not waver from it.

Kerry was busy getting a manicure and getting his face spray painted. He blew his opportunity to reveal his Iraq plan to the American people. Didn't happen.

He could have done the same by prepping a few hours each day just as easily.Lets face it , the general drift of the questions was no BIG secret to anyone. I still dont see why he would risk taking himself down , the ENTIRE Democratic Party in front of the world if just one person spotted him with cheat notes.Thats be literally INSANE to risk on Nation Wide TV in front of millions. Its Grassy Knoll gentlemen. This probably wont get any play at all . If it does it will backfire making us look nuttier than the real NUTS out there voting for Kerry ..What's he gonna say if he's severly pressured , be real ? I had a pic of like that . So then what ?? Who's going to be able to PROVE anything ?

Or Bill Clinton ...talk about stuff in his pants

In the Impeached One's case, it was about what he should have kept in his pants.

A caller on the Brian Whitman show states both Kerry and Bush pulled papers out of their pockets.

I dunno. I didn't tape it.

can you guys take this outside? at least private message each other...

I hate to correct you on the mainboard, but what the heck...

If you expect people to "take it outside" or at least private message each other, then you should practice the same tactic when making your point.

Please don't take this personally, but by my responding to you on the public board makes you feel the need to reply again. Hence keeping the issue going. However, if you follow your own advice, this would be one less post on the subject.

I've said all along that Bush's performance was bad Thursday night - but if Kerry used cheat sheets then this is a horse of a different color. It's a clear violation of the rules.

Also, I watched a rerun of the Bush/Gore 2000 townhall debate on C-SPAN last night and it was a completely different Bush than we saw Thursday. He was shaper, on point, and challenged Gore a lot more then he did Kerry.

And the questions were just as complex as the ones Thursday night; however, Leher(sp) was the moderator and he seemed more balanced then than Thursday night.

AS MUCH AS I HATE TO SAY IT, I THINK HE PULLED OUT HIS PEN...JUST AS PRESIDENT BUSH DID

No need to shout.

Bush did not pull out his pen, he picked one up from the podium, pre-placed there as per the rules.

Let's see the proof on Bush having notes. It was easy enough to see Kerry's notes. Why can't the libs produce the proof? LOL!

We have a video of the crime. There are people at Fox, Rush and SwiftVets zooming in on this. Its index cards. Cheaters never think they will get caught. Joe Lockhart put him up to it.

Also Dan Rather is now saying that Bush is trying to "smear" him and asking fo sympathy. Dems always accuse YOU of what they are doing. Who smelt it dealt it.
