XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX
DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?
Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:
"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."
So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?
What did Kerry place on the podium?
Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.
[A tight zoom of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious "card" from his jacket. 14 seconds into video, after commerical]
A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.
"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."
Developing...
The fact that he cheated is the issue.
WELL , what could possibly be on a single piece of paper
It could very well be more than one sheet of paper, like 5 3 by 5 index cards printed front and back in MS doc forge font type...
Looked like a pen to me. Talk about your tempests in a teapot.
I don't care if it was a Kleenex. The rules even apply to the elite.
I saw that same clip and thought the exact same thing. You know that Fox is aware of the Drudge Report and they have to be investigating too!!!!!!
Well for those who have seen better video, and this is running on Fox, they say itlooks like 3x5 cards.
"Oh, ****!" (WITH a fake Kennedy accent!)
:)
Thanks, I'd missed that one.
Lurch Lurker Alert
At the end, Bush walked stage left to greet his family. Brief handshake to Lehrer, no words exchanged. Lehrer crosses over to Kerry, exchanages words with him along with the smile, wink and handshake. The part that really bothers me and I have mentioned in previous posts is when Kerry is reaching into his jacket, flips papers and looks down, Lehrer is looking right at Kerry. The entire time, so he saw Kerry fumbling in his pocket. It's so disgusting.
I have nightmares about Albright and Reno. AAAAAAAAAAAAAK! And also William Cohen.
nice alliteration
Again , for a cheat sheet to be worth anything , you'd have to know the questions . Look , Kerry is a scumbag but I doubt he's THAT insane to actually bring the questions on stage with him .That would be the ALL TIME biggest political scandle of the last 100 years. Everyone involved would be ruined for life ! I cant imagine what exactly would be on that paper anyway ..What ?/ Facts , figures //Dosent even make sense to me ..
Yes you did. But check back, you stated, "but not positive though."
I was answering someone's question if candidates could ever use note cards during a debate or just this particular set of debates this year.
How did the DNC get away with that video of GWB's reactions?! ("Faces of Frustration" video at the DNC website).
You guys are good. You can see now that he took the time to check whatever it was he brought while being asked the first question.
I'd hate to think he knew what the first question was going to be.
You are exactly right - we should find an article about potential Kerry appontees. It will give everyone (here) nightmares!
The DNC nor the RNC were parties to the "memorandum of understanding" that set out the "rules" for the debates...so they are not bound by them....
