XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX
DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?
Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:
"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."
So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?
What did Kerry place on the podium?
Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.
[A tight zoom of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious "card" from his jacket. 14 seconds into video, after commerical]
A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.
"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."

If it was a handkerchief, what was in it?
How big are blackberries?
Their leaders may be the things you said. But they are nothing without the blind sheep who follow them.
I said debate shot on Fox News, and I said it was a piece of paper. It was clear and obvious that he was unfolding something. Sorry if I was unclear.
HA Ha ha....
NOW I know what all that nonsense with J F'n Fx4 Kerry and the footballs is about.
Just trying to enhance the manual dexterity before palming the paper.
Note: J F'n Fx4 Kerry = J F'n "flip-flop fop fake" Kerry
Billybob
I know. Just ask Jim Lehrer.
"Actually, after watching that, I think the "paper" may just be Kerry's hand, which looks squarer on lower-res video. The illegal object might be a pen. "
Scott- have you gone to the Boston site? If you're just looking at the earlier videos- it's so blurry you can't tell...which is why earlier I thought this was much-ado-about-nothing. Once you see it more clearly- it's unmistakable. At any rate- we know plenty of hi-res people are closing looking these over...
From johnkerry.com:
5(d)Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff of the Commission will place such paper, pens, and pencils on the podium...
So whatever sKerry pulled out of his coat pocket was submitted to the debate Commission??? This is a really big deal! If it isn't, why are there 32 pages of rules?
IMO, Kerry wasn't "scribbling" all those times - he was reading his cheat sheets.
Lying POS.
Or they chose to ignore it. At any rate, the MSM is becoming more and more irrelevant. I love it!

I'm not sure why Kerry would need notes as I believe he had some access to the specific questions prior to the debate. The Rather/CBS business gives one a whole new perspective on what is going on with the MSM and our political process. It's damn frightening.
He had the questions in advance, IMHO.
No problem. Sorry if I came of harsh.
You're right. I was thinking of the question end of things, though. But maybe it's worked out for the best. The Dems may have been hoist by their own petard. Again. How sweet.
Yes it is. Click on WATCH THE VIDEO and it will come up on a window behind Drudge. Try it. It worked for me.
If this was an issue, it should have been brought up the day after the debate - not four days later.
The timing creates a distortion of desperation on our part. He spoke effectively, but so what? Many egoists do. However, what is everyone talking about? Global test and NK talks. Kerry defending himself on the stump the day after the debates proves he didn't win, whether he took something out of his pocket or not.
I love how everyone is so quick to attack the President because he can't come across as Bill Clinton in debating style, but when he hits some out of the park, everyone ignores and instead reaches for the easily graspable to highlight "unfair". This doesn't win friends and influence voters - it looks desperate.
IMHO, and I don't mind standing by my opinions, because that is all it is.
