XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX
DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?
Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:
"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."
So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?
What did Kerry place on the podium?
Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.
[A tight zoom of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious "card" from his jacket. 14 seconds into video, after commerical]
A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.
"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."
Developing...
I noticed someone cleared President Bush's podium, but not Kerry's. I assumed that was a Bush staff person and Kerry's people were not going to do that. They could have done it a little later though when I quit watching.
In the picture you posted you can see Kerry looking Lehrer straight in the face as he's pulling off his diversionary handshake.
Good point.......
And in the next debates have a camera down view on each podium....like they do in the Poker Championships in Nevada.....so can see what the debaters are doing.
Where did get this quote?
Please clarify. On fox News, did they say it was a piece of paper, or did you say it was a piece of paper?
I know. He has so much class, his entire family does. Good manners, etc., a virtue slowly fading from our society. Kerry and Tahrayza are the epitome of people who think that just because they have money, they have class. Doesn't work that way. Many folks I've known over the years who have tons of money believe that they can behave anyway they want, that the (there's that word again) "rules" don't apply to them. I'm sick of it, and I want us to keep on this until we get some attention about it.
It is a terrible time in American Politics, when you have to have a Camera standing over debators for Presidential Elections, it is almost like looking for shoplifters at walmart.
"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."Yeah, right ! And who might that "Kerry insider" have been ??? .....
lets ask him
I hadnt noticed. L0L
I cant believe dims would cheat.
Oh well, the president needs to knock Kerry put in the next round.
First off the frame pics show a card....a hankie or tissue would flex....also he wouldn't need to unfold it .
Second....its an absolute NO-NO to wipe sweat in these circumstances...the make up would run....
The post opened with the EXACT wording from the debate moderators re requirements and restrictions, and noting that both sides had signed off on them.
So at least WE here on FR knew the groundrules, yes? Or, most of us did, but for you.
I'm the kind of ass who wonders why people like you toss out an unthought-out response...who wonders why people don't READ the very simple premises most of these threads start with, so they can respond, if not intelligently, at least coherently...who wonders how deep someone's insecurity must reach for you to lash out like that, when clearly you simply mis-read the beginning, or read it too fast.
Most people on this DISCUSSION BOARD, when corrected, have the grace--and security--to simply respond with something like, Shoulda read more carefully, Haven't had my coffee, or Thanks for setting me straight on that.
Most people.
He changed the headline of the post concerning this news item.
Right. I would say most Americans do not think like they do, so we take it at face value.
Now everyone is going to be watching every single action at the remaining debates.
I guess I missed your question in the middle of your second block paragraph. Sorry.
"How about having the security staff search The Fraudman next time?"
Yes...But if they are anything like Jim Lehrer, we might see Kerry winking at the security staff after the debate as well.
bump for later reading
