XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX
DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?
Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:
"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."
So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?
What did Kerry place on the podium?
Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.
[A tight zoom of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious "card" from his jacket. 14 seconds into video, after commerical]
A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.
"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."
Developing...
I guess he just Flunked the "Appearance of Inpropriety Test" and Passed the "Global Test'
maybe it is 'nit picking' .. but so, ok, if its chapstick or whatever, why didnt the DNC say so right away instead of trying to say that its the Republicans trying to shift the win of the debate....I dont care WHAT it is, they call President Bush a liar, a this a that...he should have done better in the debates, yep....but no matter who won, Kerry, IF HE DID, should not have broken ANY rules, no matter which ones and get away with it...do you for a second think if it was President Bush, it wouldnt have been front page news on the NYT the next day?
Im glad Drudge took it on, no matter the outcome....I want to know what he took out now more than ever..... I WANT THESE LYING, DISGUSTING LIBERALS TO KNOW WE ARE WATCHING and THEY BETTER BELIEVE "THAT"
Thank you for the link. It definately was paper and not a pen. I've seen it twice already. This one is a perfect video. You can see it right away!
It's not huge unless the RNC picks it up. I doubt Gillespie will, since nothing conclusive can be determined from the video.
Plus, if he makes the accusation, he's got to be right, or it would blow up in Bush's face.
There's zero chance that Bush is going to get anywhere near something this iffy.
What would you expect a TRAITOR and liar to do. He pulled out his list and stuck to it. Democrat lies all as usual.
true....I dont want President Bush to go near this, but I want Drudge too!!
Bingo. If it isn't anything they should be denying it up front. But they aren't. They are already trying to "blame" Republicans.
Exactly. We don't need Bush to even go near this. The media should be the ones picking this up. You can see it clearly on the Boston Globe video. That is the best one yet!
Drudge has changed the title to "Debate Mystery: Did Kerry Have a Cheat Sheet?"
Ok, we know he took something out of his pocket, but if it was cheat sheets then at the end of the debate he would have to put them back in his pocket. Did anybody see this?
In order for a cheat sheet to be worth the paper it's printed on, isn't it safe to assume that you need to know the questions in advance for it to work???????
I love it because the dems will panic...
The agreement was that they could not bring anything with them to the debate. Paper and pens would be available at the podium.
If that was the case then Bush was just as guilty because he looked down at his notes many times to trigger an answer. It looked like to me that he had about a half dozen 'pre-approved' replies and he would use the one that came closest to matching a question, failing that, he just stood there like a deer caught in headlights.
""Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."
Doesn't deny what the tape shows which is he took some kind of folded paper or card from his breast pocket when his back was to the audience.
I almost thing that Lehrer didn't even NOTICE when he was, as moderator-for-life (so it seems), he should've been ON TOP OF THIS. Imagine how flustered Kerry would've been and how embarrassing it would've been for him to have been "caught" even if it had been a pen. Besides, you can't tell me students don't hide notes in pens.
If Lehrer was looking right at him, it could be Night of the Long Pajamas 2.
No, I watched his flunky, come running up on the stage and take everything away...everyone was at the front of the stage, waving and a person came up the back and took everything and left!
