XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX
DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?
Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:
"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."
So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?
What did Kerry place on the podium?
Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.
[A tight zoom of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious "card" from his jacket. 14 seconds into video, after commerical]
A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.
"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."
Developing...
You are correct. What I saw was a banner ad, and those change every time you view the page.
Agree 100%. This is silly talk on our part.
Maybe he was just making sure Kerry stays put so the Dems won't freak out and throw Billary in the mix. Giving him enough rope to hang himself, like. We shall see.
I think it is probley getting tons of hits right now.

a crack pipe?
You misspelled "pocketses".
I don't know why everybody is so excited. It was just his list of nuances.
However if it is cheating ...the common people understand that
Why is it silly? Cheating on an election debate seems like a biggie to me.
AS MUCH AS I HATE TO SAY IT, I THINK HE PULLED OUT HIS PEN...JUST AS PRESIDENT BUSH DID. I DON'T WANT US TO LOOK LIKE FOOLS WHEN THE TAPE IS EXAMINED CLOSER....
Wonder if it was just a hankie, in case he started dripping orange sweat?
Not a surprise coming from you.
What's the story with the Weld debates and cheating?
It would have been delicious if FOX had had a camera overhead looking down on the podiums and had caught FnKerry redhanded going thru a stack of 3x5 cards.
Agree with that, and it could put a big negative back on Kerry. Which would be great.
My point is, there was not any difficult questions in that debate. I am certain GW did not need info cards to help him with his answers. That is not the reason GW did not perform well.
Bush didn't pull out a pen. The pens, pencils and paper were supposed to be already on the lecterns. Bush picked up the pen that was already there.
Once the hits die down, go and look at the videos.
Vindication is sweet.
"If it was lipstick and he didn't have a mirror than we know he wears it often."
He could have used his French cufflinks as a mirror :)
