XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX
DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?
Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:
"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."
So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?
What did Kerry place on the podium?
Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.
[A tight zoom of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious "card" from his jacket. 14 seconds into video, after commerical]
A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.
"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."

Political rhetoric is not the same as rhetorical oratory in philosophy or ethics. Are you saying your posts are only meant as a display a rhetorician's style? Check your own posts in this thread before you assume the posture of a classical Greek. ( Rhetoric also means insincere and pretentious.)

My Own due diligence. My apologies if someone posted this timeline, but I've been working on it for a while,
so I wasn't reading through all the posts.
Jim Lehrer said:
"I have agreed to enforce their rules on them"
I say balogney.....
It's no wonder Kerry is facing away from Lehrer, they had been told the Moderator would enforce the rues.
Now if one was to sneak something in, and VIOLATE THE RULES as Kerry OBVIOUSLY did no matter what the closet
libs say, one would do it to avoid the Moderator from catching you.
Kerry is facing clearly facing away from the Moderator:
Think about the Moderators wink to Kerry at the END, and put this into perspective.
Is it Possible the Moderator and one Candidate (kerry) Schemed so that the Moderator would not notice Kerry
removing something from his pocket?
Look at the Moderator, and vies the C-Span or washington Post Rm video and use pause and review to stop and play.
You will see the following:
Jim Lehrer said:
00:00:32 "I have agreed to enforce their rules on them"

00:1:52 Moderator looks Down while kerry, makes way to Podium.
.
.
.
00:1:53 Moderator looks at kerry, as he makes way to Podium.
.
.
.
00:1:54 Moderator looks DOWN while kerry makes way to Podium.
.
.
.
00:1:54 Moderator looks down while Kerry makes way towards podium with Kerry's back to Moderator.
.
.
.
00:1:55 Kerry reaches into breast suit pocket, VIOLATING DEBATE RULES HE AGREED TO.
.
.
.
00:1:55 Moderator clearly looks at Bush while picking up paper, and turning it over. Ensuring Kerry would not be caught while you see the kerry swipe.
.
.
.
00:1:56 Moderator continues to look down
.
.
.
00:1:57 Moderator looks at Kerry, but Deed has been done, as Podium height blocks Moderator
from seeing what Kerry has removed form Pocket and fiddles with on Podium.
.
.
.
00:1:58 Moderator finally returns a look to kerry after debate violation swipe from suit pocket.
Podium hides done deed. Why is Kerry looking down?
.
.
.
00:1:59 Moderator continues to look at kerry after debate violation swipe from suit pocket,
but again, podium hides done deed.
.

**I would like to add the screen cap of the Moderators Wink to this, if someone canpost that as well,
it would be appreciated.
NOTE: This absolves the Moderator in my opinion from seeing the deed, as Video proves he was looking
down or at Bush when Kerry violated the Rules.
It does not however absolve the Moderator from explaining the wink, or the possibility that this was
a planned event scheme that was potentially agreed to by the Moderator and Candidate Kerry. The evidence is non-conclusive
to that point although, the wink along with the Moderators view of Kerry during the Violation can
lead to the conclusion of a scheme between the Moderator and the candidate Kerry, in my opinion.
The Video is there, the wink at the end is there, and the evidence is clear.
Kerry Violated the debate rules, cheated, and the format has been compromised by
none other than the candidate himself.

I listened for Laura Ingraham to mention it, but if she did say anything I didn't hear it.

I haven't read every post on this thread -- stopped last night at about 500 -- but pulling ANYTHING out of his jacket pocket and putting in on the podium would violates the rules. It simply doesn't matter whether it was notes or not.
The fact that he hid his action gives us the right to presume the worst.
This guy is a combination of Dr. Smith from Lost in Space and Gilderoy Lockhart from Harry Potter. An evil phony riding on stolen credentials.

I have often wondered the same thing about Clinton. Yes, he is bright, but the true nature of these people is to cheat and lie their way up the career ladder. I wouldn't doubt it in the least if Kerry broke the rules. That's what Kerry does best.

Wouldn't surpirse me if with his wife's money, he had some kind of computer designed to feed him the answers.
To: 95Tarheel
That may not be so far from the truth. Consider this: kerry started his response at exactly the moment lehrer finished posing the question and finished at exactly the time allotted. Same with rebuttals. For this to occur, he would have had to have anticipated every possible question and then memorized a respone lasting two minutes. I smelled a rat as I believe "W" did also.

Is she the one that thought up the lame "he spoke from his heart" spin?
BTW, it wsn't a pen. Is the story being pursued?

I have never seen a pen shaped like a small white rectangle. What is the NY POST looking at?
To: stockpirate
Well, I was trying to be fair about this and give Kerry the benefit of the doubt here, but that was NOT a black pen (in my eyes). Interesting.
To: metacognative
I have never seen a pen shaped like a small white rectangle.I think the small white rectangle is his shirt cuff.
There! I said it. I didn't want to, but having looked at videos and stills until my eyes cross, that's what it looks like.

About ten minutes into the debate you can see clearly that Kerry was absolutely writing with a white pen, not a black one.

It appears that he definitely cheated - will he get called on it?

His shirt cuff? Please look at this video in the slo-mo version, the 2nd version, you might have to push the play button on this.
http://www.dailyrecycler.com/blog/2004/10/winners-never-cheat.html
It's very obvious that his left hand reaches into his inside jacket pocket on the right side.
What did he pull out? His shirt cuff? I don't think so.

What did he pull out? His shirt cuff? I don't think so.Sorry, wasn't clear. I think the white rectangle is his shirt cuff. When I looked at it that way, it looked like he grabbed a pen.
Maybe it was something else, but I think the cuff obscures it.
