(KSL News) -- Police have confirmed that the human remains found Friday morning at the Salt Lake County landfill are those of Lori Hacking.
In a statement sent to the media Detective Phil Eslinger said, "This afternoon the Salt Lake City Police Department was notified by teh Office of the Medical Examiner that dental records positively identified the remains found at the land fill as those of Lori Hacking."
After weeks of fruitless efforts, the search for the body is developing at breakneck speed. First, searchers found the body at 8:20 this morning.
When they made the official announcement a few hours later, investigators were careful to say they weren't even sure the remains are human.
Authorities now say dental records confirm that the remains are Lori Hacking.
A statement from Lori's parents, Thelma Soares and Eraldo Soares said, "We can not possibly express in words our gratitude to the many people, state and county agencies, private businesses, and all others who have been involved in the search for Lori at the landfill. We particularly thank the dedicated police officers from the entire county along with the volunteers and dogs who have searched since July 20. It means everything to us to find Lori's mortal remains so that we might lay them to rest with the dignity befitting the valiant daughter of God she was. We know her body will rise whole, perfect, and beautiful again in the resurrection. Our heartfelt thanks to those around the world who have been praying with us that her body would be found, and we're especially grateful to Captain Winkler and the men who have searched so long and so hard under such difficult and unpleasant circumstances to bring closure to our nightmare."
The 27-year-old hadn't been seen since July 18th. Her husband Mark Hacking remains in jail, accused of killing Lori as she slept.

Prayers for her family and swift justice for the perp.
Just from appearances, this lady was a true victim....so pretty and young and unsuspecting...
what a shame.
...and God grant a just and swift retribution to her murderer.
I always hope for this too but "swift" doesn't exactly fit into the justice system these days. I doubt that, after this long, they can prove she was pregnant (unless there is a doctor's record of it). That may mean that hubby slips away without the death penalty.
Yep, very much a shame. May she rest in peace. I'm just glad that her family finally gets to lay her down now, they have waited to long IMO. So sad, what a neet gal she was from what we have all seen and heard of her. To sad.
Prayer for her family, what a relief it must be that the wait is over.
May have DNA traces with remains different from hers.
What a beautiful statement from the parents, God bless them.
She was identified by her teeth and they couldn't tell if it was human...? don't make sense.
Lori Hacking pinglist--if you want on or off, please let me know via Freepmail.
Prayers for Lori's family. As I said on another thread, Mark threw her out like so much garbage--but now she's been found and can be properly laid to rest.
Consider where she's been for weeks and weeks. They also mentioned that they had "almost all" of her bones, so no doubt they had been scattered by scavengers, broken by whatever had been thrown on top of her, and so on. Very grim, and very sad.
Every woman is some father's little girl.
I just caught a video clip in FNC. Tough duty. I'm sure it's not what these folks thought about when they went to the police academy.
Prayers for Lori's soul.
I never thought they'd find poor Lori, but they did. Bless all who searched that horrible stinkin garbage pile and stuck with it.
NOW, maybe if they have Lori's skull, we can find out if Mark told the truth about shooting her in the head.

That must be one heck of a massive landfill. That, or the usual landfill smells screw up the dogs. Or both.
Looks like it's all over for Mr. Hacking. Hope he lives a long, long life full of everything he's got coming to him.
Yes. I think for some people, the death penalty is far too merciful.
