I have heard this line from Kerry supporters during the last two-weeks.
Urban Legend? Fact? Fiction?
This was something that had me scratching my head too! What nuclear facilities?
Bridge and tunnel tolls in NYC average between 4 to 8 dollars, depending on the bridge or tunnel. And what needs to be fixed on them, anyway, security-wise? If there are such needs, can't the city do something about it with the money they're making on these toll roads?
Incidentally, when we had the blackout last year, New Jersey was wise enough to close down their toll collection system and let people ride for free that one day. New York City, on the other hand, was completely out of power, with the exception of the tollways, which were lit up like Christmas trees, and still kept on collecting tolls.
There were several NYC firehouses that were closed, but IIRC, it's more because they were superfluous (e.g. too close to another firehouse) than anything else.
Kerry was WRONG about everything he spewed!
Kerry's smoking crack. Congress appropriated something like $15-20 Billion dollars for New York to rebuild after 9/11. Some of that money will be used to fix some of the tunnels he was talking about.
Further, New York, like every state gets money to address homeland security preparedness.
This was another lame attempt by Kerry to lull the American people into thinking that Bush isn't doing the right thing protecting America from a terrorist threat. Although Bush can't say it, I'd be happy to. Kerry, you are a liar.
Some firehouses,in N.Y.C. have been closed. It had less than NOTHING to do with the president,or any branch of the federal government.
The several tons of uranium we moved from Iraq to the US back in March or April that Iraq had from their old nuclear program. Looters apparently removed containers from the site and had gotten radiation sickness. *shrug*

Since when has opening and closing firehouses EVER been anything other than a local concern. I am sure some cities have had to close fire houses because of budget constraints or because of demographic changes and that others have had to add firehouses to cope with a growing population.
Either way, the Federal Goverment has little if anything, to do with firehouses, nor should it. This is a local issue. Local tax dollars support firehouses. Always have and always will.
That depends on what your definition of wrong is.
Kerry is so brilliant that even when he is definitively wrong, he is actually right; in some nuanced way that Kerry alone understands.
As for us commoners, it is not our place to judge our betters.
He said Bush has spent $200,000,000 on Iraq; he is wrong, according to none other than Brian Williams.
The total is $119,000,000, which includes Afghanistan -- and some of it hasn't been spent at all.
This does not surprise me. His facts seem to have a cBS level of accuracy. But I'm sure some flunky somewhere has some convoluted explanation for his figures. Kind of like the claim that average pay checks have gone down 9K a year.
Kerry lied soooo many times....it's PATHETIC....but that's a senator for you.... ;o)

Wasn't the program called something like 'COP LAND' ? I agree, it was for one year, and through some invisible miracle, the states were to pick up the next years funding. Well, most states couldn't pay, and the program fizzled.
I can tell you as a former train commuter from NJ to Manhattan, a LOT of people will read the Post tomorrow and see this, whether they pick up their own copy, pick up someone else's, or read over someone's shoulder. Hopefully the Bush team will pounce on all the gaffs and lies.
Transit Authority guy is pretty sharp with turning a phrase!!
I don't know.
He said so many things that had my eyes bugging out, but he talked so fast I missed them.
The part about global warming should have been made a much bigger deal, IMHO.
The DUers are making fun of Poland - remember Kerry forgot them in his list? I guess they have now become just like Allawi, a country approved for scorn. I just don't get it.
