KERRY CLAIMS HE'S "NEVER, EVER" USED WORD "LYING" IN REFERENCE TO PRESIDENT BUSH ON IRAQ.
JIM LEHRER: "New question, Senator Kerry. Two minutes. You've repeatedly accused President Bush, not here tonight but elsewhere before, of not telling the truth about Iraq. Essentially, of lying to the American people about Iraq. Give us some examples of what you consider to be his not telling the truth."
SEN. KERRY: "Well, I've never, ever used the harshest word as you just did." (Sen. John Kerry, First Presidential Debate, Miami, FL, 9/30/04)
BUT IN DECEMBER 2003, KERRY TOLD NEW HAMPSHIRE EDITORIAL BOARD BUSH "LIED" ABOUT REASON FOR GOING TO WAR IN IRAQ. "Kerry also told a New Hampshire newspaper editorial board Friday that Bush had 'lied' about his reasons for going to war in Iraq, a word Kerry has been reluctant to use publicly for months. Yesterday he said he did not plan to use the word again." (Patrick Healy, "Kerry Camp Lowers N.H. Expectations Behind In Polls, Senator Now Seeks Spot In 'Top Two,'" The Boston Globe, 12/8/03)
AND IN SEPTEMBER 2003, KERRY SAID BUSH ADMINISTRATION "LIED" AND "MISLED." "This administration has lied to us. They have misled us. And they have broken their promises to us. The president promised to the people and the Congress that he would build an international coalition, respect the United Nations' process and only go to war as a last resort. I will tell you that from my war fighting experience, I believe there is a test for a president as to how you go to war. And that test is whether or not you can look in the eyes of parents and say to them, 'I did everything possible to avoid the loss of your son and daughter, but we had no other choice in order to protect the security of our nation,' and I know this president fails that test in Iraq." (Sen. John Kerry, Campaign Event, Claremont, NH, 9/20/03)
LYING ISSUE IS BIG,,,,BUT GIVING IRAN NUCLEAR FUEL IS HOMICIDAL MANIC IN ACTION.
What gives me hope is that the media gave Gore high marks immediately after the debates then his exaggerations & inconsistencies were uncovered in the following days.
The Bush campaign must go hard after the kerry lies and his remark about 'the Global Test' he'd do before 'going to war'.
Bush did look somewhat tied...Did you see the pictures of him comforting the hurricane ravaged Floridians?.....that kind of emotional drain has got to be exhausting.
He has a very soft compassionate heart and I'm sure that experience added to his fatigue.
Despite that I think he held his own....remember everyone in the media raved about Kerry's debating skills before the debate?
Kerry debated like a senator negative, pompous, meandering and verbose......Bush came across as the President.....focused, resolved, clear and optimistic!
Yep, caught that one, too.
How about Kerry at one point talking about America being overextended in our military commitments, and the so-called "backdoor draft", and a short while later talking about adding, what, two divisions of troops so that we could open yet another military obligation in the Sudan?
Gee, I thought "nuclear proliferation" and specifically that by North Korea -- not by terrorists, and excluding bio- and chem- weapons -- was Kerry's principal issue.
Of course the post analysis press is going to reflect well on Kerry, McAwful ensured that with all his predebate emails, and URLs that went out to all the DNC supporters across the country. They had their emails and talking points hours before the debate!
Funny but someone else made the same comment on the live thread and unless I'm dreaming, I clearly heard him point out Kerry's vote AGAINST THE $87 BILLION. Perhaps he said it quickly and it might have been missed by some.
Choozer, in replaying the Debate let me revise Kerry's position on "nuclear proliferation"; it's actually his desire to focus on nuclear weapons existing in Russia and to gather and contain these in four years.
Kerry only switched his position after the President said the biggest threat facing this country is weapons of mass destruction in the hands of a terrorist organization. Then, and only then, did Kerry expand to include WMDs.
Maybe the fact that a domestic terrorist was arrested in Wisconsin before he was able to blow up several buildings, a laser attack on a Delta pilot and copilot in Utah and a pipeline blown up in Houston this week had something to do with it. Not only that but Russia approved the Kyota treaty, a bunch of kids got blown up in Iraq and there were major events in the Gaza strip today. I think that the President has more on his mind than the pompous, supercillious traitor who wants his job.
FROM DRUDGE:
FLASH: Kerry stated: 'That's why they had to close down the subway in New York when the Republican Convention was there.' (Driving home point that Bush as not done enough to protect the Homeland.)
The NYC subway did not close at all during the convention, according to a report on cable outlet NY1...
See, this is gonna get good!
That's about ten lies already!
I loved the part where he claimed he never wavered.....I laughed aloud at that one and not one talking head has mentioned it. I thought it was the line of the night!
Pricely what I said in an earlier post Early today, a pollster said to wait two days before a clear evaluation can be made as to who won. Once Kerry's lies are highlighted, I'm hoping the choice will be clear
As Pat Cadell pointed out before the debates, while Kerry got his manicure today, GWB was comforting Floridans.
BTTT!
I have felt from the beginning that Bush won the debate, but I'm a substance guy. Dick Morris is right: Bush won on substance, Kerry on style.
Trouble is, Kerry's high 'style' is what everyone hates, and btw, all that flashy style hid a steaming heap of lies and flip-flops.
My take was this:
1. Kerry lied about getting burned playing football the other day because magically his face was not orange tonight.
2. I thought Bush could have knocked it out of the park if he had asked after the discussion on the genocide in Africa and the Nukes in North Korea, where is the UN in doing anything about either of these problems? And say the same was true about Iraq. Resolution after resolution was not adhered to by Saddam. Someone had to act because the UN refused to enforce their own resolutions.
3. The most scarry moment was toward the end of the debate Kerry said that he would dismantle our own Nuclear program so we would not be hypocrits. This man is dangerous.
Hope people see his lies, demogogery, and deceit. Bush could have done better. I was hoping for the knockout. Didn't happen unfortunately.
The pipeline near Houston was two dumb rednecks playing with some heavy equipment. They've already been arrested for it.
Good freakin point... So we need to not develop bunker busting nukes to take out potential DNK nukes in underground bunkers...
May I also add that perhaps he was a wee bit tired having grieved with Floridans who lost their homes while Kerry got a manicure.
Morris was brutal and fears if this was GWB's forte (war on terror) he will be slaughtered on domestic issues.
Which is right.
Thanks, I hadn't heard the outcome of that. You mean to say that these two rednecks were playing with heavy equipment in the middle of the night? The guy that was arrested in Wisconsin was not Middle Eastern either. It was called domestic terrorism.
