"Bloggers eye debate" -- Where's Free Republic?
The Boston Herald ^ | September 30, 2004

Posted on 09/30/2004 12:56:32 PM PDT by conservativo

Just as President Bush [related, bio] and Sen. John Kerry [related, bio] are preparing for tonight’s debate, so, too, are legions of others who are readying to provide a running commentary of the political duel on the Web. Bloggers are ready to offer a nearly instantaneous take on tonight’s proceedings. They are fast, opinionated and entertaining. Bloggers like The Indepundit - who will be live-blogging two events at once: the Presidential debate and the Navy/Air Force football game – are ready to provide a less-than-traditional take on the political duel. Here’s a list of blogs to watch during and after tonight’s debate: # Road to 1600: Dave Guarino

# Talking Points Memo

# AndrewSullivan.com

# Wonkette

# The Blogging of the President: 2004

# Daily Kos

# Poliblogger

# Citizen Smash – The Indepundit

The blogs listed are mostly left-wing, and blogs like LittleGreenFootballs and PowerLine were conspicuously absent. In fact, none of the blogs listed were involved in Memogate, for instance.

Sigh, and the Boston Herald is supposed to be the "good" paper vs. the "bad" paper Boston Globe.:)

Freeper research is better than anyone's out there with the exception of Bill Gertz.

What's Bill Gertz got that we don't?

Uh, I was only kidding, but why does post 9, which only says "FR is not a blog", represent some valid argument?

Because it does not, a common mistake.
It simply answers a question. Not an argument.

'Debate Response Team'

Now we know how John Kerry plans to "win" tonight's debate. We received an e-mail this afternoon from Terry McAuliffe, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, on behalf of the DNC's "debate response team." Recipients are urged to help the campaign spin the debate:

* "National and local news organizations will be conducting online polls during and after the debate asking for readers' opinions. Look for online polls at these national news websites, and make sure to vote in every one of them."

* "Immediately after the debate, go online and write a letter to the editor of your local paper. If you feel John Kerry commanded the debate and had a clear plan for fixing the mess in Iraq, put it in your letter. If you feel George Bush dodged tough questions on Iraq and didn't level with voters, put it in your letter."

* "Do you listen to national or local call-in shows on the radio? How about on TV? Call them and let them know what you thought of John Kerry's plan to keep America secure and George Bush's continuing refusal to admit the truth about his record."

"Your actions immediately after the debate tonight can help John Kerry win on November 2," the e-mail says. Do these guys really think such cheerleading is what wins presidential elections?

# Wonkette

This is not a blog. It is an on-line diary of sluts and tramps who are angry, vile, and not very bright.

Calm down! Godssakes, I know how FR works. I just didn't plan carefully enough to prevent that post from being misinterpreted.

Well, gee whiz, it seems like you guys are neither being welcoming or educational; in fact, it seems as if you're being antagonistic and mean.

"I'm beginning to think we need a boot camp before Election Night."

Last election before my son enlisted, he and I (brought him up right- he's been a political junkie since he was 5!!) stayed up ALL night ... lots of sound effects and cursing...being Floridians we feel we've gone through boot camp...and then been to the Front Line!
