DULUTH, Minn. - Something about Sen. John Kerry's darker appearance has caught Lynne Cheney's eye.
During a campaign stop with her husband, a group of volunteers moved into the crowd with microphones for the question-and-answer period. Vice President Dick Cheney told supporters to look for the people with dark orange shirts.
When Cheney paused as if searching for the words to describe the shade of orange, Lynne Cheney said, "How about John Kerry's suntan?"
The remark drew a big laugh from the crowd and the vice president.
Responding to her comments, Kerry campaign spokesman Bill Burton said, "Is Mrs. Cheney jealous considering how hard it is to get sun in the undisclosed location with her husband Dick? Or is she distracted over how red-in-the-face George Bush should be considering his failed presidency?"
Oompa Loompa!
It is a stupid comment.
They shouldn't have responded at all. It only gets the joke more coverage and continues to mold Kerry as a joke personified.
Kerry people have no sense of humor. Their 'comebacks' are so junior high.
Stupid retort by the Kerry people... making light of security demonstrates again that these people cannot be trusted with our nation's defense.
This is the best his legion of speech writers and advisers could come up with? Why didn't they just use the old stand-by, "I am rubber. You are glue..."
Kerry looks like a character on a movie marquee poster. Revenge of the politicos.
No real man would spray himself orange. And, enough with the yellow bracelet already. John, no one likes cancer; take the the thing off. It looks like it came from a Barbie jewelry set.
What do you think of your opponent's new tan?
Bush's reply:
Looks like the Senator has jumped the gun on Halloween a month too soon.
It doesn't matter though because I'll have him carved by November.
"Oompa Loompa!"
LMAO
Responding to her comments, Kerry campaign spokesman Bill Burton said "you are a big poo poo head"
I think I have to agree with you. You always have to be above reproach with these dudes.
Someone should put sKerry's face on one of those Oompa Loompa characters. LOL
Kerry's people need to promote this spokesman. His wit and ability to frame issues puts him right up there with Joe "puppet" Lockhart.
LMAO!!! Oh My God...I peed on myself laughing so hard!
After considering and deciding against "I know you are, but what am I?"
They feel the need to respond to a joke from the Veep's WIFE?????? Kerry and his people are more sensitive and emotional than my 17-year-old daughter.
