GMA
John Kerry was apparently on Good Morning America and The Note snippets this baffling exchange:
DIANE SAWYER: Was the war in Iraq worth it?
JOHN KERRY: We should not have gone to war knowing the information that we know today.
DS: So it was not worth it.
JK: We should not it depends on the outcome ultimately and that depends on the leadership. And we need better leadership to get the job done successfully, but I would not have gone to war knowing that there was no imminent threat there were no weapons of mass destruction there was no connection of Al Qaeda to Saddam Hussein! The president misled the American people plain and simple. Bottom line.
DS: So if it turns out okay, it was worth it?
JK: No.
DS: But right now it wasn't?p>
JK: It was a mistake to do what he did, but we have to succeed now that we've done what he's I mean look we have to succeed. But was it worth as you asked the question $200 billion and taking the focus off of Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda? That's the question. The test of the presidency was whether or not you should have gone to war to get rid of him. I think, had the inspectors continued, had we done other things there were plenty of ways to keep the pressure on Saddam Hussein.
DS: But no way to get rid of him.
JK: Oh, sure there were. Oh, yes there were. Absolutely.
DS: So you're saying that today, even if Saddam Hussein were in power today it would be a better thing you would prefer that . . .
JK: No, I would not prefer that. And Diane don't twist here. Notice how Kerry loses his cool and accuses the questioner of twisting; Is this guy thin-skinned or what?
In tomorrow's debate, Kerry will benefit from lowered expectations because his image among voters is something of a caricature right now. But he still has to do better than he did on GMA. You can bet President Bush has a list of zingers that he will deploy if Kerry gives him an opening.
Someone should ask Reverend Love Child why his son wants to draft young AA men into the military. (JJjr. is a co-sponsor of the draft legislation).
If Kerry whithers under the "heated" (cough cough) questioning of celebrety interviewer Sawyer, whow in the world will he deal with lunatics like Saddam, Osama .... Gerhart and Jacque!
Very good.
I wouldn't put it past Kerry to do something completely aginst the debate rules ... like ask Bush a direct question. Apparently that was his winning strategy with Weld. I hope GW is prepared for the possibility.
What are they going to do if he breaks the rules? Arrest him? He's deparate!
No clue. This guy is dangerous. And the rampant Rat voter fraud could very well mean that he'll get elected.
That's 22 years and FOUR MONTHS!
And Thanks, dead, for the new tagline.
You just made me think of a good campaign song. Since the Dems were going to use "Fortunate Son" before the CBS blowup the RNC needs to do a re-mix of "Tamberine Man" by Bob Dylan to keep within the same era. They need to change the words and title to Tangerine Man though.
Something like- "Hey Mr. Tangerine Man play a song for me in your flippin' floppin' manner you come campaigning to few"
When I was in the 6th grade in addition to Latin we had an english class where we drilled extensively on writing precis summaries. Although it refers to writing, this is an excellent description of how Kerry should have been articulating his positions. In all likeliehood he is incapable of doing these rules:

Tips for Writing a Précis
by Constance DeVereaux
A well-written précis should be a serviceable substitute for the original work. The goal is to preserve the core essence of the work in a manner that is both clear and concise. At a minimum, the précis should include the topic or main thesis, the purpose of the research, what was studied, what methods were used, what results (or insight) were gained, and a conclusion. This guide provides tips and includes links to two sample papers, one on fetal protection policies and the other on James L. Sundquist and constitutional reform.
Goals of the Précis
Compress and clarify a lengthy passage, article, or book, while retaining important concepts, key words, and important data.
Remove what is superfluous and retain the core essence of the work.
Give a brief description of key terms
Give a brief description of methods an idea of the general approach used by the researchers.
State the purpose of the research or piece of writing (why was it important to conduct this research or write on this topic?)
When finished, the précis should clearly state:
This is what was studied (argued, discussed).
This is how it was done (this was the focus).
This is what was learned.
This is what it means (why it is important).
Kerry has just been given so much slack by the media over the last 30 years that he has not had to ever answer for his contradictory statements, positions, and votes.
I didn't see the show, I only read the transcript. Perhaps on TV Kerry sounded thoughtful and nuanced. Reading the transcript, he comes across as a complete imbecile. How can this even be a contest? How could even one sentient being cast a ballot for this twink? Is it possible that this chucklebutt will be the next president of the greatest nation in the world? I hated Clinton, but Kerry makes Clinton look like George Effin Washington!!
Like what Ronald Reagan said at his debate with Mondale?
My fantasy is that they have a copy of his less than honorable discharge and when they broadcast it Kerry will be compelled to respond. They will be inviting Kerry to sue for libel or slander, but the truth is irrefutable and a lawsuit would be fruitless.
Kerry will likely try to get a restraining order against the Swifties and then the story will explode big in all of the media markets. Kerry is clearly not going to open his military records now, (it is getting too late) and so the damage will be catastrophic for Flipper.
My fantasy goes on, but that is for another post.
This to me is also very telling. If he was truly the man for the job he would have been outlining his plan all along as Bush has and not as a last ditch effort to clarify his position.
The same ole MO. Always blame the other person. I wouldn't want this man to be responsible to care for an animal as a dog cathcher, much less as the most important leader in the free world. The man has never been a leader in his life.
Kerry will also have to get by without Stonewall Jackson, and without vital intelligence from Jeb Stuart, Jeb Magruder, Jeb Bush, or anyone else.
GMC? Good Morning Communists?
There aren't as many positions in the Kama Sutra.
The Dems will blame it on a makeup malfunction.
