A new weblog has begun to keep an eye on the Houston Chronicle and report evidence of what the paper's critics believe is a leftward bias in its news coverage.
ChronicallyBiased.com, an effort of Houston talk radio station KSEV, presents specific examples of questionable coverage at the Chronicle, which is Houston's only major newspaper.
"We believe that the Houston Chronicle suffers from both partisan bias and from poor journalistic practices," editors of the new site say. "We believe that news coverage is often slanted to reflect the liberal biases of editorial staff, and we believe that the editors are more concerned about promoting a political agenda than fairly covering the news important to Houstonians and Texans."
Says the site: "In short, when the Chronicle screws up, we're going to be there to point it out."
The editors also say they will break stories of their own when the Chronicle fails to cover local developments they believe it should.
Staff of ChronicallyBiased post examples of slanted coverage in the Chronicle and invite readers to comment on each entry.
The site's founder and publisher is Dan Patrick, an afternoon drive-time talk-show host on KSEV in Houston.
What a fabulous idea. I'm sure every one of us can come up with a local paper that needs to be checked for fairness in reporting.
Bookmarked this one. why do you think they are giving the paper away. baseball stats are the only thing I trust in that liter box liner.
