Waiting for it to land right now on Fox channel. They said it is too dangerous, some critics said so, people could die. Well, people could die in their cars on the freeways, too. Life is full of dangers. So what's new?

I have a video called "The Rocket Pilots". I recorded it off A&E years ago. I think it was originally produced by NBC. It is the whole history or the X-15 program. Anyway, it shows the actual engine explosion you describe.

I guess Crossfield wrote a book about it also, that would be a good read.

Niel Armstrong got put into the spin cycle in an X-15 once. I don't know anything about Armstrong in an X-15, but I know he got put in a spin cycle in a Gemini flight - he was able to recover and they ended the mission early.

I agree.. Nothing is 100% safe. Heck people died while trying to cross the atlantic... There will be accidents and people will die, but we should not quit.

Mike reports "high left down wind" for landing, ground says that this is "two for two"
