Updated: 2:08 p.m. ET Sept. 24, 2004Sept. 23 - The Democrats are likely to lose the Catholic vote in Novemberand John Kerry could well lose the election as a result. Its about abortion, stupid. And choice, make no mistake, is killing the Democratic Party.
A recent Zogby poll shows that in key battleground states including Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania, Catholic voters are far more likely than the general public to vote for President George W. Bush over Kerry. In Minnesota, for instance, 60 percent of Catholics say theyll go for Bush, versus 44 percent of all Minnesotans.

58.8% to be a little more precise.
I consider a double digit win a landslide in the popular vote.
This is indeed a surprise. Most US Catholics generally voted "pro-choice" in the past. ...will be keeping an eye on this development.
My feeling is, and this is only my opinion, that after millions and millions of abortions, there are a lot of women out there that KNOW what they did was wrong, feel betrayed by the feminist party and will try to rectify what they did, in part, by voting pro-life. And I'm sure a big chunk of those women are catholic.
Again, JMHO
,,, when it comes to the abortion issue, the question has to be put to Kerry, "how many more Americans don't we need?" Let him answer that one before the election.
Choice is killing Democrats...DINO's, in The Father's eyes they are children worth his own son's life.
An acquaintance of mine is a Catholic conservative local radio talk show host -- and silver medalist in the last gubernatorial election. He takes his faith pretty seriously.
I think you are probably right, but something I suspect that is first needed is the prospect of absolution -- recognition that what they did was wrong but that our Lord is a Lord of mercy, who would rather that we all turn from our wickedness and live.
Yeah. More and more it's clear that the Democrats' election to eliminate pro-lifers is (heh, heh) killing their Party...with all ironies and punditry fully intended.
When you think of the kind of man George Meany was--and compare to the Democrat powerbrokers of today...
That's a great idea. I sent it to myself for later use.
I think the 'secret society' referred to in the old Canon Law was the Masons--and joining them STILL incurs latae sententiae excommunication.
Skull and Bones is a bunch of dingbat college boys who do not seek to build an alternative church...
Frankly, I think the action on the CINO/Communion question taken by several of the Bishops has had an impact. The actions have told some folks that this is REALLY serious stuff.
A swing of 20% in the Catholic vote (from 60% FOR Clinton to 40% FOR Kerry) is a significant move and will hurt him.
And Kerry's having trouble with the black vote. They have problems relating to windsurfers while their jobs are going to China.
It goes on...
Best news I heard all day! Thanks for the ping.
Because of Abortion and other moral issues Kerry can lose the Catholic vote
Kerry is WRONG for Catholics and Evangelicals, See this link
This is an interesting drama. As it looks now, Kerry WILL LOSE to Bush BECAUSE OF ABORTION. Catholics are pulling away from the grotesque, sordid, and monstrous abortion policies of ultra-liberal wackos like John Kerry. The implosion of the Kerry campaign almost looks like divine intervention to prevent his godless abortion policies from becoming a monstrous tyranny located in the White House. Thank God!
Now, how will the liberal spin doctors in the Big Media and the DNC process this??? They will not want to admit that Kerry lost because of these absurd abortion policies. This will be fascinating to watch.
This is the BIG story of this campaign. The CATHOLIC VOTE. Catholics need to capitalize on this and exert their power. And the GOP had better take notice. If they want continued support from Catholics, they had better get behind SCHOOL CHOICE and family values in a big way.
Thanks. I didn't know that. I thought FTM was probably accurate but I know litttle about the old code of canon law
