A recent Zogby poll shows that in key battleground states including Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania, Catholic voters are far more likely than the general public to vote for President George W. Bush over Kerry. In Minnesota, for instance, 60 percent of Catholics say they’ll go for Bush, versus 44 percent of all Minnesotans.

The guys I went to Catholic school with growing up all became Reagan Democrats are now almost exclusively Republicans. When you add Gay Marriage to the mix, and this is on the ballot in Ohio, it spells a complete disaster for Kerry among non-union Catholics.

Yeah. I think this is sort of a delayed reaction.

There's a lot of cafeteria Catholics out there, no one can deny. But I think the majority of Catholics, especially the church-going ones, are a bit more solid on a bit more stuff than sometimes folks give them credit for.

Zogby's Fritz Wenzel told the Catholic News Service he sees these numbers as a reflection of Catholic “concern about the legitimacy of the war in Iraq being overridden by ongoing discomfort with Kerry’s stand on abortion.”

It’s telling that the numbers only started to break that way in midsummer, after heavy news coverage of the debate over whether pro-choice Catholics (John Kerry, for instance. Oh, and John Kerry) were fit to receive communion.

Amen. I think Bush will win in a landslide. I wonder why no reporter has asked Kerry if he understands he excomunicated himself when he joined the secret society Skull and Bones.

FTM, in The Wanderer, pointed out that he joined in the 1960's when the old Canon Law was in effect. Back then, one was excomunicated the instance they joined a secret society?

The Dems are losing the male vote in massive numbers and the babes are gonna abandon them also.

This is Zogby so we can all subtract five from Kerry. If this trend holds, Kerry can't win.

I would be very surprised if that were the case.

But Mr. Bush may very well get in the low to mid-50s in the popular vote. I'm betting on 51% - 52%.

Electoral College - 325 +.

Of course, if he gets 55%, he'll probably get 400 electoral votes.

It's nice to know there are still some Catholics out there that still take their faith seriously. Here in Kennedy/Kerry Land, it sometimes seems that most Catholics don't give a darn.

One thing that real Catholics have learned is to fight evil, even when it is from within their own church. They also hear the parable about the weeds in the wheat at least once a year. This Church has had much evil from within for two centuries, and yet it is still here today. Real Catholics will always be there to fight evil, count on it.

That's what some folks call it today.

Even in 1984, when Mr. Reagan won with 58% or so, it was called an "electoral" landslide, but not quite a popular vote landslide.

Years ago, 60% was considered a landslide in the popular vote. And still is by many observers.
