The U.S. has no plans to deploy troops along the Mexican border to stanch the deluge of illegal aliens currently pouring into the country at the rate of 3 million per year, President Bush said in an interview broadcast on Monday.
"As the governor of Texas, I was very aware of this issue," Bush told Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly.

"There is a long border, that makes it hard to control. We have beefed up places along the border to try to stop" the flow, he said. When told that his policy didn't seem to be working, Bush insisted, "Its working a little better.
"They're doing a pretty good job down in Arizona, which is the main border crossing. ... I think there's a thousand more border patrol agents along the border. Were modernizing border techniques, were using better surveillance methods to stop this crossing at the border."
The president contended, however, that illegal immigration was driven primarily by the economic realities of the region.
"If you can make 50 cents in the interior of Mexico and five bucks in the interior of the United States, you're coming for the five bucks," he explained.
"I happen to believe the best way to enhance the border is to have temporary-worker cards available for people," he said. "I think the long-term solution for this issue on our border is for Mexico to grow a middle class. That's why I believe in NAFTA."
When warned that "a lot of people are not going to like that answer," Bush told O'Reilly, "Well its a, a truthful answer."
He said Red China has far longer borders than the U.S. and their borders were completely secure.
tee-hee!!! That was good.
The freakin' minimum wage should be abolished anyway.
:O)
P
I think most wouldn't care -- a whole lot of the border is way out in the desert where no Americans are --- the parts of the border in town are already fenced -- no one minds the fences at all --- in fact if you told the people living along the immediate border that the fences were coming down --- you'd hear the biggest outcry and protests --- and those would be all hispanics. Silvestre Reyes actually became very popular among hispanics with Operation Blockade and Operation Hold-the-Line --- which drastically lowered much of the crime rate in the border towns.
LOL, and how would O'Rather-Rielly know that?
See my post #486.
Crap. I've heard it all before. Out of the millions being employed by the damn criminal employers and greedy business owners none of them are being held accountable by law. You think this is an accident?
You think there is some conspiracy afoot Joe? Why not post a vanity on it? Tell us what you know..
Why are they above the law? Which laws can I ignore?
Feel free to ignore any you like Joe. Just don't come whining to me when drunks pee on your porch.
That would involve changing all their laws, their constitution, their government, their culture --- they would resent us a lot if we even try --- it's something they must do for themselves.
LOL!
I don't know how O'Reilly knows that, maybe he once tried to sneak in.
Thank you Jim, I respect your opinion very much. I hope someone, somewhere has a plan that puts America and Americans first, and I hope they roll it out at least in the nick of time...God bless you and yours richly. We have every responsibility to protect ourselves today and protect our country for tomorrow. Something is going to give, and someone is going to be pissed...
" a good start would be a Fair Tax scheme to eliminate some of the economical incentives. See my post #486."
Quote #486:
"It would abolish income taxes & SS deductions for a 20% [or more] federal sales tax on EVERY new product or service, even food/clothes/etc.
Illegals would have to pay the tax, but they would not be reimbursed, as would citizens.
In effect an illegals cost of living would go up by whatever the individual tax rebate would set at. For illegals with families, it would probably price them out of our labor market."
You think these greedy employers that are not being held accountable by law for hiring these hundreds of thousands/millions of illegals is somehow an accident?
What are you talking about??? WE are the GOP...The questions is, what are those politicians doing for us????
Well, er....Yes I do. LOL!
What do you call it?
If a conservative web site is full of people willing to sell out American for cheap labor, I think the country is truly surely dead. It just hasn't been buried yet.
Yep, it's being revamped.
No longer a Marine tasked to the Embassy Guard unit?
I was a Marine Security Guard from 1990 to 1993.
That ain't infantry.
Your right, it's Marine Security Guard duty. Your basic MOS never changes. 0311 (Infantry) / 1984 - 1996.
State Department I believe.
No, Marine Corps.
Sincerely,
Marine Inspector (Customs & Border Protection Officer)
Not really --- someone has to pay when the illegal becomes pregnant or sick or when the children of the illegals want to go to school --- who should pay? Those of us who never hired any? Or those who actually benefit by breaking the law to bring in cheap labor? I don't get one iota of economic benefit over someone else having a cheap live-in nanny or gardener to keep their leaves blown off their driveway --- if someone has to pay -- and obviously someone does --- let it be the ones that brought them in. The government will quickly slap a lien on a taxpayer's home when the taxes become too high to be paid ---- it's time they leave the taxpayer alone and go after those bringing in the illegals.
There you go. Eliminate the mimimum wage. Pay the farmworkers and other unskilled jobs that attract illegals the fair market price for their labor. Would solve a lot of problems.
BTTT
