First Print Story on the Outing of Congressman David Dreier on the Internet
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- San Gabriel Valley Congressman David Dreier is the latest GOP member to be outed as a homosexual Republican by Mike Rogers, former development director for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and his blogactive.com Web site. Doug Ireland, longtime radical political journalist, media critic and self-described purveyor of "investigative opinion," defends the outing and assesses Dreier's political future in this first discussion of the outing in the print media. Already Ireland's story has caused a stir. Several radio stations have called Ireland for comment and many are debating whether Ireland should have kept the story on the Internet. "I have not the slightest doubt that the outing campaign initiated by Mike Rogers' blogactive.com and supported by Raw Story's reporting is accurate in exposing Dreier," Ireland insists. "Moreover, in the course of reporting this story, I talked to a gay member of Congress who has observed Dreier in gay behavior and is 100% sure, as this member told me, that Dreier is gay. And, clearly, Dreier's demagogic political homophobia justifies reporting the outing campaign targeting him."
I said, good night. I'll be ignoring you at this point.
Please check out those books.
You're totally wrong. The solution to the gay marriage issue is a private sector one. In this era of almost outright socialism, how dangerous would it be to call for a Constitutional Convention, especially one that would NEVER PASS. Face it, 2/3 of the Congress and the Legislatures are never going to pass that amendment.
Even Christians like myself would work tirelessly to make sure that what is left of our Constitution would not be further eroded by a vocal minority among us. The perversion of our Constitution in this manner would be far more dangerous than some gays getting "married".
A more prudent course of action would be to call for an end to government-sanctioned marriages, which are more a perversion of the institution than gay marriages. This way, you would only have to clean house on the "churches" that are marrying gays, as the government would not (which it shouldn't anyway) have the power to do so.
That a man and a woman should have to ask the governments permission, and get a license to get married in front of God, is an outrage! Far greater an outrage than some gays getting "married" (which isn't possible anyways!)
I respectfully disagree.
In this era of almost outright socialism, how dangerous would it be to call for a Constitutional Convention.
I agree that a constitutional convention would be fatal. I never called for one.
If Dreier is corrupt, he should be outed. His sexuality, AS LONG AS IT DOES NOT AFFECT HIS JOB, AND DOES NOT SUBJECT HIM TO BLACKMAIL, is his business. The trouble is, many times, closeted homosexual's ARE subject to, and victims of, blackmail.
Oh but I was:)
If Dreier doesn't get re-elected, it won't be because of THIS. It will be because of his bizarre stand on illegal aliens. Otherwise, the guy is pretty darn conservative.
LOL.
I'm sorry, could you please elucidate your thought in #426?
I can't seem to catch your point.
Gotta get my gaydar checked. I never got any gay vibe from him.
Funny, but I notice the RINOs aren't being outed.
It doesn't take a genius to see the motive here.
However, he's the 3rd most powerful member as Chair of the House Rules Committee. He's also on the House Select Committee on Homeland Security.
Ditto......... and I'll take a couple of attractive Republican lesbians getting to know each other out on my front swing under the big old oak tree.
Hey, maybe you'll get lucky and one of them will be your daughter.
The new Republican tent is getting very interesting.
Some of you folks are funnier than a barrel of RHINOS.
Yeah, I once knew a bank robber. Outside of him robbing banks, he was actually a pretty nice guy, and honest too.
powerful member as Chair of the House Rules Committee(Rules)
LOL at that comment. Quite a screenname, uh, "she" has, eh?
And you are woefully ignorant and need to study up quite a bit. First of all, initiatives can and have been overturned by the liberal courts, so yes, Schwarzenegger does in fact, much as it pains you, get credit taking those actions. (Desperate, are you?)
And yes, there have been a number of other conservative actions he has taken aside from those... I don't have time to catch you up on an entire year but, for example, just the other day he blocked a minimum wage measure. Bustamante or Davis would have broken legs in their rush to support have supported it.
The silly gay activists are also interested -- very interested in his voting record.
In fact, the silly gay activitists want to change his voting record.
And so, in order to change his voting record, the threaten to reveal information they know he would prefer to keep private.
Anyone know what that is called???
If you said blackmail, please go to the head of the class.
