Just got in from the West Chester Ohio Bush rally and it was wonderful. We had about 50,000 people in attendance, and it was the biggest crowd Bush has had and the state of Ohio has ever seen for a political event.
I, my mother, and a friend, arrived around 9:00 AM and were one of the first 20 people in line. Unfortunately, they wouldn't let us take video cameras inside, so I had to go back to the car and put mine away. When I returned, mom was out of line and the Bush campaign had pulled several of us from the line in order to go work the phone polls. Most of the folks I called, I had to leave messages for. Of those who were home, the vast majority were pro-Bush. Only one guy got particularly nasty and started lecturing me about how bad Bush has been to old people and how he was a draft dodger. I informed him otherwise and told him how Bush actually had VOLUNTEERED for Vietnam but didn't have enough flight hours at the time to qualify. He just said that he had other things to do and was sure I did too and hung up.
Well, after the polling, they escorted us to the front of the line so we didn't really lose much space. We had green tickets which was the second section back, so we could still see fairly well.
Darrell Worley entertained us for a while as did the Lakota East High School Band. Then, we listed to several local and Ohio politicians speak. Mind you, we didn't have chairs and this was an open-aired event, so our feet were very tired but it was okay.
Five of the President's helicopters arrived on the scene, but no President Bush. But finally, after a long wait, some time around 4-4:30 his campaign bus pulled up.
He stepped out to cheering throngs and spoke to us about his wonderful agenda for probably 45 minutes to an hour.
It was a wonderful day and I thought I'd share it with the Freepers!
Got pics?
Thank you for sharing your day with us. I'm jealous!
No, he couldn't take his video camera.
A couple of people called in to Sean Hannity's program from the rally, and gave reports similar to yours. Sounds like it was an outstanding event!
OUTSTANDING!
If Kerry and Edwards are really lucky, they might get those numbers during all their campaign stops put together.
I love it!
Friends don't let Friends vote Democrat!
I think I see us in this news photo, in the center about half way back dressed in dark blue behind the blond headed lady (who was the friend we were with)
Nice report. Thanks for taking to time to write it. I was pleased to hear about the size of the crowd!
Wow. I believe the Prez will carry Ohio if we can keep down the Dim-o-rats vote fraud.
Thank you, thank you from another Buckeye.
Just got back from the rally. Walked from my house. There were 50,000 plus folks standing outside in good spirits for hours! W showed pretty much on time after an excellent helo and bus juke that got the crowd cranked up. Great line about "Kerry being able to debate himself for ninety minutes".
SW Ohio loves W!
Very, very neat! Son went to school down there, so am somewhat familiar with that lovely part of Ohio. Remember all the Bush signs we saw there 4 years ago. Good Conservative part of the state.
