Web can turn everybody into a contributor (BUCKHEAD LEGEND LIVES ON)

The worst thing anyone can say is that they don’t have anything to contribute or anything to say — especially in this day and age of the Internet.

The Internet is the people’s printing press, the place where people can have their say, can influence what’s going on no matter what side they’re on. That’s what happened with the memos CBS used in a report on George Bush’s service in the National Guard.

SNIP

According to a report on The Weekly Standard (www.theweeklystandard.com), the blogs are the reason that doubts about these documents spread so fast. A mere four hours after the CBS report, a blogger by the name of Buckhead began wondering about the fonts and spacing of the memos supposedly typed by Bush’s National Guard commander and “newly obtained” by 60 Minutes. In an e-mail to The Weekly Standard, Buckhead didn’t claim credit for his insight, saying that the Internet is a “big place, and I can’t believe that other people didn’t notice the same thing around the same time.”

SNIP

You can be one, too. Just go to www.google.com and search for blogging. You’ll find sites that’ll tell you how to start a blog. And, who knows? Maybe your particular expertise, whatever it may be, will be called upon in the future to help debunk a news story. It can happen to the most modest person. The Bush memos prove that.

All because some bloggers began to raise questions.

"The worst thing anyone can say is that they don’t have anything to contribute"

I must agree -- that IS the worst thing to say. The correct thing to say would be "...is that he or she doesn't have anything to contribute"

Sorry for the nitpick, I'm an editor!

Thanks for the humbling moment. Just when I think I'm a 40 year old grownup, you guys got me snickering and snorting at the name jokes on this thread.
