If both are you are working from home, try the NW or NE of Atlanta: The only drawback is the commute, and that's not a problem if you're not commuting.

(Consider, for example, that Kennesaw has the gun-required law, and has elected Gingrich and Bob Barr to Congress.) We aren't exactly politically correct. Housing is as inexpensive or as expensive as you want.)

It's been such a huge problem with con-men roofers in Fla. anymore if the aren't licensed and insured don't even talk to them and don't give "any" money up front.

In Port St. Lucie they will be giving out new super h.d. roof tarps that are supposed to last up to a year.

i never got there. was in Port au Prince & the points towards Domin Rep... Spent much time in Fonds Verette, which I understand is pretty much gone.

I truly believe it is good that now & then we loose some of our advantages to really appreciate them & understand how much of the third world lives.

When I made my several extended trips to Haiti over the years, I found that I could make due (did not say was happy) without air conditioning, power, running water.

In these places, they take not having A/C and other things into consideration when they develop their lifestyles. Even here in Florida, the houses 50+ years ago were designed to allow the wind to blow throught them and allow proper ventalation. This isn't done anymore. We have trapped ourselves into this type of lifestyle and pay the price for it when disasters like this hit.

Still here. Just got cable modem back. Somehow the elec hasn't gone out.

It was blowing like heck outside, now it's blowing like hell. Gusts probably nearing 80.

I have S and E exposure, so it's blowing over my shoulder. MY problems (if I have any) will come with the back side of the eye when it will be coming right at me.

I'm in nothing but concrete, with 1" decking securly covering all my openings.

I'm still a bit worried though.

Howdy--

We finally put the beautifully decorated window boards back up at dusk.

Stuart looks like it's gonna get hammered again. Thank goodness my mother is on an Alaskan cruise. I hope they don't hear a word about the storm until after they return. Fortunately, they flew out of Tampa, so they can stay here as long as necessary. Their building had not been repaired since Frances.

Jeanne surely hasn't made a turn yet. Me thinks we may see more of Jeanne than they have predicted.

I put my 1999 Floyd boards up two days before Charley and only earlier this week did I take down the ones on the south side of the house. Put them back up yesterday. I may leave them up until Christmas.

Still very little rain here in Boca Raton but very heavy winds. Was just outside watching and a transformer two streets over popped. Quite pretty.
