On our way back home from a family drive on 8/29/04 my wife and I noticed a peculiar mushroom cloud just east of our home in Wellington, UT. We ran into the house and brought our both of our digital cameras and started snapping pictures. Within 2 hours there were three different explosions resulting in mushroom clouds.
We emailed a local news station; they looked into the pictures but to no avail. There were truck drivers parked at the gas station just down from our home, the drivers did not dare drive the road for fear of whatever was happening out there. Pretty scary afternoon, especially during this time of heightened alert in our nation.

Looks like smoke from a brush/forest fire to me. Seen this same type of smoke plume many times at forest fire sites.

Isn't this the UFO show on overnights?
Do we have any weather people here that can explain the clouds in this picture?

Somebody tried to start a fire by rubbing two Osmonds together?

Could it have been a forest fire? I'm serious. I saw the same type of smoke cloud develop south of Fairbanks, Alaska a few years ago. It was a raging forest fire.
But, in Utah? Weird stuff.

Look into the red light, please:
Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

Tree's devoid of vegetation - picture taken well over a year ago during Winter, or late Fall.
Looks like a fire in the Wasatch, or on the Rockies range. I've seen these types of plumes many times. Esp. when the wind is light during the early hours...

Ditto. Seen the same thing from brushfires in California.
