CONTROVERSIAL TEXAS RANCHER SAYS LOCKHART WANTED DOCUMENTS //

The source of a disputed CBSNEWS report claimed Thursday that Kerry adviser Joe Lockhart tried to "convince me as to why I should give them the documents." Texas Army National Guard Lt. Col. Bill Burkett tells the FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM that he has suffered four seizures since being identified as CBS' source and dogged by the media... Developing...

...the RATS are going to call Burkett a liar now.

Burkett is the ONLY source for the Bush AWOL stories.

One thing we do know is that Burkett can tell a lot more than he's told so far.... as of August 13 he was publishing a review article on Democrats.com in which he asserted that he knew of no documentation from Killian to be used against Bush, yet this week he has claimed he received the forgeries way back on March 3. Whether Burkett is the forger or simply the intermediary, this article suggests that a lot happened after August 13 that Burkett is lying about:

"I [Burkett] have found no documentation from LTC Killian's hand or staff that indicate that this unit was involved in any complicit way to either cover for the failures of 1LT Bush, or to provide him pay or certification for training not completed. On the contrary, LTC Killians' remarks are rare..."

"Getting better by the minute"

I saw the Drudge headline just now, and thought the same thing. This is going incredibly badly for the Democrats.

Once it really sinks into the brains of the guilty parties at CBS and the DNC that forgery of this kind is at least one kind of felony, there will be a lot more accusations flying as individuals run for cover.

Your right. NOTHING can happen to Burkett or it goes straight to the DNC. In fact CBS has painted this source in such good light that any criticism of Burkett by the DNC would only serve to make CBS look worse and Rather to look even dumber for staking a career on a nutcase.

The fates of the losers are tied together.

How is the Kerry campaign's association with these forged documents any different than watergate? Why isnt this a HUGE scandal?

That , exactly is my question also. I mean, someone caught forging checks, ends up in the pen for 4 or 5 years!! Someone forges documents that could change the entire election results of the PRESIDENT of the USA, and it doesn't even get looked into???? Justice??? I don't think so.!!

Didn't take Joe long to screw up Kerry, just like Hill told him to.

Burkett is a military man with an exit strategy. I'm betting he has proof of these allegations. Denied disability, he is looking for cash and doesn't really care from where it comes.

Now that makes sense!

You can't make this stuff up! Kerry's campaign is looking more like the "Murder By Death" commedy/mystery every day. LOL!

This memo forgery thing is a gift that just keeps on giving! I'm getting tired of popcorn, time to call for pizza delivery?

Now, here's the question. Do the Republicans keep after it until they have a smoking gun in the hands of a DemoRat (a safe bet if there ever was one), or do they wimp out after the election and let it drop? I'd say go for the smoking gun, it would be worth its weight in gold for at least two election cycles (2006 and 2008)! It would be nice to be able to hang the stink of fraud, forgery, and dirty tricks that would make the AFL-CIO wince, around the neck of DemoRat cnadidates for a few years (in the minds of the voting public).

It is fun to watch See BS sweat, but what effect will any of this have on the election? What I mean by this, is now that Burkett has come out and firmly stated the Kerry campaign's connection to Rathergate, how can the Bush campaign capitalize. Do they bring criminal charges?

I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.

I agree with Hitchens -- they're not forged documents. They would have had to exist in the first place to be forged.

They were pure fabrications.

Those documents never even existed to be forged.

Geez, I wonder if anyone around here has a picture of any memos about their memo discussion. Or at least a gif that represents an, er, accurate account of what happened. :)

Naw, it'll be like this...

C'BS News is saddened to report the death of Bill Burkett. From what police have been able to piece together, Bill tripped on some stairs and fell onto approximately 25 bullets."

But Burkett is paranoid (besides being very sane indeed) and paranoid people do things like... record stuff on the phone.
