Your right. NOTHING can happen to Burkett or it goes straight to the DNC. In fact CBS has painted this source in such good light that any criticism of Burkett by the DNC would only serve to make CBS look worse and Rather to look even dumber for staking a career on a nutcase.
The fates of the losers are tied together.

That's what's so delightful about this turn of events. The 'Rats CAN'T trash his credibility now without wrecking CBS and the entire "Fortunate Son" campaign which is ultimately based upon Burkett's ludicrous assertions about the supposed 'sanitizing' of Bush records in the 1990s. Even if the DNC and/or CBS try to trash him now, his current story will probably stick enough to do some harm (how long can Lockhart last???), AND his previous stories about Bush records, the forgeries, etc. will be under a permanent cloud of suspicion.
