Robert Redford slams Bush ENVIROWACKO ALERT
News 24 ^

Las Vegas - The Bush administration is "intentionally blind" to the needs of the environment and has rolled back years of advances in improving air and water quality, actor and activist Robert Redford said on Wednesday.

"Sadly, the erosion that's occurred is disastrous, frightening and dangerous," Redford said.

Speaking at an event sponsored by the Environmental Accountability Fund, a political action committee, Redford said he is insulted when President George W Bush and vice-president Dick Cheney tout their status as Westerners.

"I take particular offence as a Westerner when I see all the swagger and all the strutting. .... And I think, `What do they know about the West?"' said Redford, who has homes in California and Utah. "It's synthetic. It's fake."

America needs more bipartisanship efforts, Redford said recalling the 1970s when he worked to help pass the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act.

"Remember the old days when we all fought tooth and nail, but we worked together to come to some sort of solution that could be bipartisan?" Redford said. "God forbid we could ever let things slide, that we lose that balance and we end up with something that could be divisive, totalitarian, mean, narrow. That's where we are now."

Bush campaign spokesperson Tracey Schmitt dismissed Redford's claims, and said Bush has proposed a number of policies beneficial to the environment.

What really irks me are the lesbians who push abortion. What do they care about abortion?

Greetings from North Idaho!

But if you think you're going to get away from the tree huggers you're mistaken. We have our fair share over here too! At least they are Republican tree huggers for the most part.

There used to be a lesbian Obg, two lesbian nurse practioners, and all of the office staff except the office manager were hostile lesbians. They pushed abortions 24/7. The office manager left after a few months. I asked her what the deal was. She said control, power and incredible money from the actual abortions and from the aborted fetus materials. The Obg retired before she was age 50/. I think she moved to Oregon and has recently moved to Maine or NH.

Yeah, Robby was a total icon from the 60s to the 90s, but in very recent years his erosion has been disastrous, frightening and dangerous...

Just look at the photographic evidence:

1968

1996

2003

This guy's face has very quickly become an environmental disaster and his days as a romantic lead appear to be over. It's Bush's fault!! ;-D

Nope. They keep putting him up in leading man parts and he lets them. Not that a 70 yr. old (?) man can't have a love interest, but usually it's a 35-39 yr. old woman young enough for his granddaughter. What age is he anyway?

Is he still around? Aging though right? Has to get his face and remarks out so he'll be remembered. Seems they come crawling out of the woodwork. What a loser.

The "Horse Whisperer" was one of the few Redford films I liked.

Now pay real close attention to the following. I offer this as quotable statistics that show the actual measured impact of the democratic Clinton Administration's policies on one part of my district.

The source of this information is the review copy Northwest Forest Plan Socioeconomic Monitoring Module: Klamath National Forest and Three Local Communities Case Study Review Draft - September 3, 2004. (The Northwest Forest Plan was created to comply with the Endangered Species Act for the northern spotted owl and anadromous fish species.) )The period that the study covered was 1990-2000. The case study I am quoting facts (not text) from is the mid-Klamath River corridor area:

Following the imposition of the Northwest Forest Plan by the Clinton Administration, the population declined 22%. The number of residents aged 0-4 and 20-29 dropped by over 50%, while age 5-19 and 30-44 dropped 45%. Age 45-64 grew 86%. There was a 41.8% drop in school enrollment. Median household income declined from $31,236 to $20,924 (drop of 33%.) The number of households earning less than $10,000 grew by 24%. Unemployment climbed from 16.18% in 1990 to 19.60% in 2000. Manufacturing jobs (lumber mill) which had accounted for almost one third of the jobs dropped to 4%. Socialeconomic scales of well-being ranked the area low in 1990 and very low in 2000.

Pardon me, Mr. Redford, if the poor rural people hammered by Democratic policies would like some relief. The Dems. talk about "social justice." Where is the justice in imposing liberal policies to assauge the guilt of rich yuppies about the environment by placing the burden upon the backs of rural families and communities?
