Massachusetts Democrat Brian Golden Endorses President Bush

Earlier today, Democratic Massachusetts State Representative Brian Paul Golden announced that he will support President Bush in November over fellow Bay State Democrat John Kerry. Golden’s endorsement comes after witnessing President Bush’s accomplishments on education, Medicare and security issues. In contrast, Golden says that after following John Kerry’s 20-year senate career in Massachusetts, he still doesn’t know what Kerry stands for.

“America needs a president who cares more about doing what is right than doing what is politically expedient. Both at home and abroad, President Bush has made tough decisions and shown a clarity of purpose that makes America stronger and safer,” Golden said.

“President Bush is the right candidate to lead America in the War on Terror because his decisions are based on principle, not politics. Senator Kerry demonstrated a troubling approach to the War on Terror by voting against $87 billion in funding to equip our troops in Iraq with essential supplies like body armor. I have confidence in President Bush as Chief Executive and I will proudly work for his re-election.”

Golden joins a long list of Democrats who have endorsed the President and have formed the Democrats for Bush coalition. Golden has served as a Massachusetts state representative since 1999 and he also serves on the education, arts and humanities, ways and means, government regulations and judiciary committees.

The Boston police union endorsed Bush 41 over our own governor, Dukakis, in 1988 and again in 1992, IIRC.
You may see that again, or similar candidates/
organizations "surprisingly" endorsing W.

I'll bet there have to be SOME Dem reps and senators that are pretty sick and tired of Kerry collecting a paycheck and never being present for duty in the Senate. When is Kerry's Senate seat up for re-election?

Some people take a long time to wake up and smell the coffee. I was once a DemocRAT and changed my registration to Republican.

But that was way back in 1983!!!

I am in absolute shock. The ramifications of this would be DEVESTATING....IF the mass media bothered reporting it. But they're too busy airing and printing lies to bother with such trifling things as important facts.

Well said Brian, however don't you realize that you are going to lose votes by not supporting "jihad" with your rhetoric, let alone the disdain for you that Chirac will tote? /s

He knows his constituency better than we do. There are pockets of Bush support in Boston.

Whatever you say, Chief.

"Golden says that after following John Kerry’s 20-year senate career in Massachusetts, he still doesn’t know what Kerry stands for."

Here is a sample of his record: Kerry was lieutenant governor under Dukakis, one of the worst Governors in history. He was thrashed when he ran for President. Kerry was all for the passes for murderers and rapists which, once enacted, resulted in the rapes and murders of innocent people. He wants taxpayers to pay for all abortions on demand, including the partial birth murders. Kerry Has Voted Against A Balanced Budget Amendment At Least Five Times. Kerry Voted Against President Bush's Tax Cuts, At Least The Tenth Key Anti-Tax Relief Vote Of His Senate Career. Kerry Voted For The Biggest Tax Increase In American History Under President Clinton. Kerry Has Voted For At Least Seven Major Reductions In Defense And Military Spending Necessary For Our National Security. In 1996, Introduced Bill To Slash Defense Department Funding By $6.5 Billion. In 1995, Voted To Freeze Defense Spending For 7 Years, Slashing Over $34 Billion From Defense. Fiscal 1996 Budget Resolution - Defense Freeze. “Harkin, D-Iowa, amendment to freeze defense spending for the next seven years and transfer the $34.8 billion in savings to education and job training.” In 1993, Introduced Plan To Cut Numerous Defense Programs, Including: Cut the number of Navy submarines and their crews Reduce the number of light infantry units in the Army down to one Reduce tactical fighter wings in the Air Force Terminate the Navy’s coastal mine-hunting ship program Force the retirement of no less than 60,000 members of the Armed Forces in one year. Has Voted Repeatedly To Cut Defense Spending, Including: In 1993, Voted Against Increased Defense Spending For Military Pay Raise. Kerry voted to kill an increase in military pay over five years. In 1992, Voted To Cut $6 Billion From Defense. In 1991, Voted To Slash Over $3 Billion From Defense, Shift Money To Social Programs. In 1991, Voted To Cut Defense Spending By 2%. Has Voted Repeatedly To Cut Or Eliminate Funding For B-2 Stealth Bomber Has Voted Repeatedly Against Missile Defense. Weapons Kerry Sought To Phase Out Were Vital In Iraq. “[K]erry supported cancellation of a host of weapons systems that have become the basis of US military might -- the high-tech munitions and delivery systems on display to the world as they leveled the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein in a matter of weeks.” (Brian C. Mooney, “Taking One Prize, Then A Bigger One,” The Boston Globe, 6/19/03) Military hardware he felt we no longer need since the "cold war" is past. The money would be better spent on "social" programs. These weapons are now the core of our military might. F-16 Fighting Falcons. B-1Bs B-2As F-15 And F-16s. M1 Abrams. Patriot Missile. AH-64 Apache Helicopter Tomahawk Cruise Missile. Aegis Air-Defense Cruiser"

Wow. From your link:

IN THE 18th Suffolk House district (Allston-Brighton and the Cottage Farm precinct of Brookline), incumbent representative Brian Golden faces primary pressure from attorney David Friedman and union activist Paul Felker. Golden, a Democrat, is best known for having gone to Florida after the 2000 presidential election to work on the recount effort — for Republican George W. Bush. He should be replaced, and the best candidate in this race is David Friedman. A former clerk for US Supreme Court justice John Paul Stevens, Friedman — who has taken a leave from his job with downtown law firm Hill & Barlow to campaign — had an epiphany when working for the plaintiffs who sued the state to force full funding of its Medicaid obligations for the care of mentally retarded adults. The high-profile lawsuit ended when US District Court judge Douglas Woodlock ruled that Massachusetts was in violation of federal law. (See "The Waiting Game," News and Features, September 22, 2000.) Friedman was astonished when the legislature initially refused to fund the services ordered by Woodcock. The insult motivated him to run. At minimum, Friedman will bring a fierce commitment to social services to the job.
