'Terri's Law' struck down
http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/09/23/shiavo.ap/index.html
TALLAHASSEE, Florida (AP) -- The Florida Supreme Court on Thursday struck down a law that was rushed through the Legislature last fall to keep a severely brain-damaged woman hooked up to a feeding tube against her husband's wishes.
The unanimous court said the law that kept Terri Schiavo alive violated the separation of powers between the judicial branch and the legislative and executive branches.

The evil Florida Supreme Court strikes again! They are asking for more hurricanes of judgment.
Hurricanes of judgement??
God takes sides?
Ping
I was wondering what God had in mind by killing a thousand impoverished Haitians. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
So I believe the Fla. Supreme Court has declared war on the other two branches of Government in the state.
God is not neutral to the decisions of man, particularly when those decisions run counter to His own character of righteousness and justice.
This is one of the worst courts in the country. Too bad Florida Republican politicians didn't take the impeachment route or the recall route after the 2000 fiasco.
I don't intend to get into a theological debate, particularly with an obvious cynic, but the reason that 1,000-2,000 Haitians lose their lives in a hurricane, and the death toll in Florida can be counted on the fingers of one hand, has less to do with God's judgment, and probably has more to do with building standards and zoning regulations in Haiti.
The Governor should issue a temporary Executive Stay of Execution
and make her a ward of the court,
as he has the right to do for anyone condemned by a court.
Rationale would be that it is WRONG to KILL HER FIRST,
and decide the Guardianship issues SECOND.
My thoughts EXACTLY.
What you said, g. Is it just me, or has this site become increasingly the spitting ground of religious hardliners claiming to talk for God? Tell you what, guys; I'll believe you're the second coming when I see you walk on water. Until then, don't presume. It's offensive, and frankly sullies the rest of us.
The Florida Supreme Court posted their 30 page summary on their website stating why they struck down Terri's Law.

Imagine the gall of the legislative branch to make a law, as we all know, that's reserved to the judicial branch...Oh, wait.
I know the US Constitution allows the federal legislature to limit the federal judiciary in some manner. I guess the Florida's state constitution gives the judiciary final say. At least according to the judiciary. And they certainly demonstrated their keen comprehension of their own state laws in 2000.
No, militant secularlsts and people who wouldn't listen to God if He spoke to them, are very well represented on FreeRepublic. And if you're sullied by anything, it's by your own arrogance.
I have already emailed and will phone now to URGE him to do so. In allowing Terri to be MURDERED legally, we are going to start a " war within the USA" that will make our war on Terror look pale!!!!
This case is set for the Supreme Court. Good.
Now we MUST fight to keep Terri alive.
Christians are supposed to be representatives of God on earth, indwealt by His Holy Spirit. While I disagree with the conclusion they came to, I won't presume to accuse them of pretentitousness. You shouldn't either. 'It's offensive, and frankly sullies the rest of us.' You said it.
Received a remarkable fund raising letter in the mail the other day regarding Terri and her husband Michael.
Appears that her husband Michael may have been beating her which caused her initial problems. He appears to be a vile man intent on winning the money that is tied up in trust under Terri's name. He routinly asks nursing staff if "the bi_ch has died yet?" after Terri gets infections or colds. He gets excited at the prospect of getting rich if Terri passes away. Of course he has given strict orders for immediate cremation should Terri pass...to avoid the post-mortum exam.
One filthy individual, inside and out. Michael, you are scum.
