And you have to wonder if Couric actually follows a script anyway. Honestly, I doubt she says what she's told to say--I'd bet most of the stuff out of her mouth is her own clever dialogue.

I think it is fair to give Immelt a benefit of a doubt the same way I think it would be fair to give Bush a benefit of a doubt that something Scott McClellan says doesn't represent Bush's view...UNLESS on the day after the statement/question a correction or apology isn't made, if no correction is made then the statement/question is the responsibility of the head.
