The Conservative Case Against George W. Bush
New York Press ^ | September 22-28, 2004 | William Bryk

Posted on 09/22/2004 5:32:31 AM PDT by Dazedcat

Theodore Roosevelt, that most virile of presidents, insisted that, "To announce that there should be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American people."...........

"Seriously it's all part of the dialectic. Since the libs don't believe in guns, the "civl war" you fear would be mercifully short and in our favor. Maybe we can stop that pendulum from swinging left once and for all."

And Southern leaders at the start of the Civil War viewed Northerners as "pasty-faced mechanics" unsuited for being soldiers, and that one Confederate soldier could whip 10 Yankees ...

Be careful of what you wish for ... things don't always turn out as might be expected.

Okay, I'll accept that. However, what you write cannot be emphasized enough: in a time when religious fascists are on the march, the Libertarians find common cause with the Chomskyite left that insists that there is no threat.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

I prefer "murder-suicide bomber" - it's the term I find most accurate.

Ummm, I'm not worried about liberal civilians. I'm worried about the Armed Forces of the United States who would be ordered to suppress insurrection and rebellion. There's something about helicopter gunships that gives me the willies... We just don't have the access to RPGs that the Iraqis do.

In 1861 it was the industrial north that had the lion's share of weapons (and uniforms and people etc.)

To quote Rhett Butler: "All we [the South] have are slaves and arrogance"

Do you believe that abortion is an inconsequential issue?

No. But if you think this issue is defined along party lines then you are delusional. The GOP convention this year featured three prominent pro-abortion Republican speakers (Giuliani, Pataki, and Schwarzenegger), and GOP candidates in wealthy urban/suburban districts usually can't be distinguished from their Democratic counterparts on this issue.

How about protecting this country?

How dramatically do the two major parties differ in this regard?

And the good folk of Washington, DC thought that it would be brief. Hell, they went out on picnics to watch the first engagement.

Again, those who think civil wars are brief and victorious are invited to go see one up close.

The US military is far more politically conservative than the average bear. If ordered to fire upon civilians in a nationwide uprising you'd see military folks defect in droves to the conservative side--this would be especially true of national guardsmen who would refuse federalization in big numbers.

Its sophomoric in the true sense of the word - sophos + moros.

Considering the alternative, Bush is best for our country.

Idealistic attacks on the Patriotic Act ignore the fact that we are in a de facto state of world with an international politico-religious conspiracy orchestrated by a clique of lunatics perfectly willing to blow themselves, us and the rest of the world to Kingdom come to please their version of Allah.

This guy's sense of perspective is clouded by his own ego.

Sure, Bush has made mistakes - a lot of them. But I sleep better at night knowing he's in the White House. Kerry is a walking breathing nightmare.

By the way, President Bush is a far better individual than the rest of the Bush clan - most of which I have no use for at all. Bush senior was, and remains a political idiot. His wife is a loud-mouthed brassy broad. Laura Bush is a real lady in every sense of that word.

"In 1861 it was the industrial north that had the lion's share of weapons (and uniforms and people etc.)"

And it still took four long, hard, bloody years. A few rolls of the dice resulting in different "alternatives" .. or General Jackson not being stupid enough in riding outside his lines in the dark at Chancellorsville .. and your "brief and bloodless" Civil War would have ended after only maybe two years.

Liberals are morally decadent and cowardly. They are incapable of prolonged combat.

My favorite thing about George senior was his constantly arranging to be interviewed in a golf cart during Gulf War one. I think well of Jeb, also.

It was true then, it's true now. You think because the USSR is gone that socilaism/communism went away? Heck, the US comminist party has endorsed Kerry.

You don't see the difference. The southerners were brave and proud and knew how to fight. Modern liberals are weak, decadent and lack a moral compass. They are "all hat and no cattle."

BTW--most military historians believe that the outcome of the American civl war was a foregone conclusion. Even if Stonewall lived, it utlimately would have been of little consequence.

Keep in mind that you are not squatting on a government server, but on private property. The owner of the server you are squatting on has made the re-election of the President his highest priority. If there comes a time when he cannot distinguish any difference between your words and those of any average leftist, you will be asked to . . . moveon.

This makes you a potential danger to our Constitution in its present form.

I beg to differ. Both Republicans and Democrats are slaughering the Emminent domain clause of the Constitution. Your basic right to your property. They got your guns, Now they are coming for your propert. What's next for Big Government to take.
