In an interview Monday evening, a repentant Rather conceded it had been a mistake to broadcast the documents. But even though he could not vouch for their authenticity, he said he still did not believe that they were fakes.
"Do I think they're forged? No," Rather said.
"But it's not good enough to use the documents on the air if we can't vouch for them, and we can't vouch for them."
What kind of reporter would I be if I put something on the air in which I believed, and as soon as it's attacked and under pressure, you run, you fold, you fade, you side-wind? That's not the kind of person I am, and it's not the kind of reporter I am."

Yep. There are about 4 million dead Indo-Chinese who probably have a thing or two to say about the likes of John Kerry and ol' Dan Wrather.
It's confirmation in spades that they intend to bring down this country, IMO.
The transformation really got going with Antonio Gramsci's ideological progeny in the Frankfurt School who were chased out of Gewrmany by Hitler after making a mess of Berlin and wound up here in the US. Abraham Maslow (psychiatry), Herbert Marcuse (the transformation of the university professorate), and Eric Fromm (the women's movement) were especially destructive. When conservatives raised the alarm about the communists in the Roosevelt administration they went ignored. The way W. Cleon Skousen and McCarthy were demonized in the media ended up doing more to give them cover than anything else.
You are correct that the media are a more ubiquitous effluence than any of us realizes.
There's a lengthy Rather interivew (link below)with a WCBS anchor-chick. She tosses mostly softballs and even tries to "help" Dan by saying the memos weren't necessary to prove Bush's misdeeds!
Rather claims that the reason they now can't vouch for the memos is because Burkett changed his story about who the source is! Not all the obvious problems with the docs pointed out by Bloggers and the rest of the MSM!
Bottom line: Rather is STILL DELUSIONAL AND IN FULL CYA MODE!

How can Rather say he still doesn't know they're fake when he sat on his newscast and interviewed Burkett asking Burkett why he lied to CBS? It's one or the other.

I had thought, though (and I confess that it's been a while since I first became aware of the See BS marble promotion system), that when you became an anchor, you received a new bag of marbles.
As anchor, everytime you aired an inaccurate, biased, and factually-slanted story designed to defame or slander a Republican President, Senator, or Governor, See BS took one of the marbles from your bag, and gave you instead a picture of an old bag -- someone like Helen Thomas.
It's clear to me that Dan Rather a long time ago lost all of the marbles See BS gave him when he became anchor.
His current state of dementia, I think, can only be attributed to having a collection of pictures of a variety of old bags.

Actually, I think the question now is "could we ever have trusted Rather to report anything accurately?"
Personally, I think the answer is a resounding "NO". From the Nixon white house through the struggles against communism and Islamic Fundamentalism, Rather could always be counted on the slant his articles against the side of conservativism, Republicans, or even America itself.
And have you ever seen the man report on the pro-life movement? Good grief, he uses his body movements and chosen phrases to cast anybody opposed to the murder of innocent babies as a dangerous, Paul Hill-type extremist.
Dan Rather is a clown of a reporter and a tool of the DNC. Always was, and always will be.
