Bush & Sophia Parlock -- ATTN WHITE HOUSE
vanity | Sept. 18, 2004 | self

Posted on 09/18/2004 6:29:47 PM PDT by Madstrider

It was a great idea for President Bush to send Sophia a new poster. But how about this:

1. Bush schedules a rally in Huntington, W.Va.

2. Bush introduces the Parlock family and brings them onstage.

3. Bush hands Sophia a new Bush-Cheney sign.

4. Bush then says, "Now, Sophia, some people say the man who tore up your other sign was a member of a labor union. I don't want you to think all union members are like that. As a matter of fact, some of my strongest supporters are union members, and I'd like to bring out one of them right now."

5. Onto the stage comes (SURPRISE!) CALIFORNIA GOV. ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER wearing a T-shirt that says, "SCREEN ACTORS GUILD FOR BUSH-CHENEY 2004".

6. Arnold then hoists Sophia onto his shoulders, where she brandishes her Bush-Cheney sign. Arnold leans into the microphone and says: "Don't worry, Sophia. If anybody else tries to take your sign away -- hear me now and believe me later -- I'LL BE BACK!"

Now, is that a good idea, or what?

A. Bush gets to make a play for the union vote.

B. West Virginia is a swing state, and Huntington is near the borders of Ohio and Kentucky, so a Bush appearance there would be "local news" in 3 states.

C. The celebrity factor with Arnold will make this a sure thing for the nightly news.

D. Everybody loves cute little kids. A joint Bush-Schwarzenegger appearance with Sophia would add "legs" to the story of what happened at that rally.

I don't know if it is true that White House/GOP campaign operatives monitor FR, but if they do, feel free to STEAL this idea. (Just imagine what professional consultants would charge you for a genius scheme like this!)

Wont happen, ever. At least not the way you are suggesting. Shwarznegger more than likely not campaign for Bush in WV. And it is almost a certain fact that the SAG would not endorse Bush. Now maybe a Police Union or something is totally different.

Dreams, dreams, dreams - I've had similar ones - don't see it happening - but totally love the concept.

Oh, evidently you didn't get the memo from the Dems, this was all a plant, Parlock has made a career of getting signs ripped up and exploiting his children. The DU is convinced he and his wife specifically conceived Sophis just for this purpose. The DU brain trust has even created a "dossier" and have forwarded it to leading media figures such as Al Franken and Dan Rather...

Don't like to exploit the little girl.

Dubya's doing just fine as is.

Very funny. If only, that would be great! Are you sure you aren't Karl Rove in disguise?

Duh. I know that SAG won't officially endorse Bush. Don't be silly.

But Schwarzenegger is a SAG member and even if he is a one-man pro-Bush faction in that union, nothing prevents him from wearing a shirt saying so. The whole T-shirt idea is a PARODY of the "IUPAT for Kerry-Edwards" shirt, get it? (As Foghorn Leghorn would say, "That's a joke, son! A joke, I say!")

Why wouldn't Schwarzenegger agree to campaign for Bush in W. Va. or anywhere else? Schwarzenegger is one of the most popular figures in the GOP, and an appearance with Sophia Parlock -- the world's most famous strongman offering to defend a precious little child -- would be just an irresistible piece of political theater. Even Dan Rather would have to give it 20 seconds.

Actually, you should go one step further.

Fax you idea to the White House. Then they might indeed pick up on it.

I, too, think it is really a good way to put legs on this story. He doesn't even need to reference that the thug was a union guy - everybody knows that anyway. Just having Schwarzenegger there, with a union shirt on, picking up the girl would be enough. Talk about memories to carry with her (and her family) forever, that would pretty much do it.

The only thing that might be even better is to have the IUPAC Union president give her a Bush/Cheney sign.

You are GOOD, I absolutely love it!! It would be the sound bite of the week. Why don't you send that one to the Bush campaign folks -- there's a "contact us" button on the website?

I'm serious -- that is an excellent idea.

No, he's a professional. I just do this because ... well, out of a debt of gratitude to the Kents, a nice family of Republicans who took me in as a tiny child after I landed here from the planet Krypton. As far as anybody knows, I'm just a mild-mannered reporter here at the Daily Planet.

Okay so SAG will never endorse Bush -- don't let that stop your creative juices! Arnold's T-shirt could read "Another member of SAG for Bush."

One of the most schizoid unions right now is the International Association of Fire Fighters. It seems the bulk of the membership is for Bush, but the international president is a co-chairman of the Kerry campaign. There is a lot of anxiety in the ranks. Bush has done far more for firefighters than any Dim president - direct grants, free training, etc.

LOL

The DU brain trust has even created a "dossier" and have forwarded it to leading media figures such as Al Franken and Dan Rather...

Key words: BRAIN, CREATED, LEADING, FRANKEN, RATHER

How about a pool to see which liar tries to release this first? At Least Franken admits he is a Democrat shill.
