FREEREPUBLIC RECORDS HIGHEST EVER NEW SIGNUPS ON SEP 16, 2004 - WELCOME NEWBIES!
Freerepublic.com ^ | September 18, 2004 | nwrep

The ongoing controversy over the fake CBS documents and the prominent role played in shedding the light on this by Freerepublic.com has caused an unprecendented surge in new memberships on the website.

Thursday, September 16, 2004 should be remembered as a landmark day for this website. On that day, more new users signed up on Freerepublic.com than on any single day before.

Click here for a running tally of daily new signups that the website keeps.

The 390 users signed up on the website eclipsed sign-up spikes caused during other newsworthy events, such as the Florida recount during the 2000 election, and the events of September 11, 2001.

The name of the website has been publicized widely in many media outlets as the source of the first revelation that the CBS memos were forgeries.

According to web traffic tracking site Alexa, Freerepublic.com has shown a remarkable increase in traffic over the last few weeks, as shown below:

Note from founders of the website: Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. In our continuing fight for freedom, for America and our constitution and against totalitarianism, socialism, tyranny, terrorism, etc., Free Republic stands firmly on the side of right, i.e., the conservative side.

Excellent! Welcome newbies! Here are a few tips:

Don't spend a lot of time sifting through threads just to be able to post "Already posted"

Please forget about the ubiquitous "Bush did it" comment. It's infantile. We get it, OK? Somebody will blame Bush. let's not waste bandwith.

Defer to your elder freepers, watch how they react. But remember we always welcome thoughtful, interesting comments on conservative issues.

But beware! Being a conservative and being a butthead are not mutually exclusive attributes. FreeRepublic has it's share. But you will find most here are genuinely honest, caring people. You will find many friends.

Any and all previously unposted or unseen pictures of Anna Kournikova are MANDATORY!

Regards, and welcome,

"A very hugh task.... ;-)"

Can you imagine all the new FReepers who are totally confused by FReeper talk?

Someone needs to put together a thread explaining the mooses, sisters, hughs, cheeses, etc.!

Yup. Lauren was hot.
But did you ever see a pic of another grand olde dame when she was about 25?

I've always been more of a Jane Greer - Ella Raines type of guy.

No doubt! Ava Gardner grew up just a few miles from me. Also a major dish.

There have been roughly 167,000 "sign ups" to date.
Of that total, some were quickly-banned trolls, some were additional screen names for the same person (usually banned trolls trying again), and some were people who just wanted to change their screen name, eg. "Dales"/"Hugh Akston".

We're world-wide. Even CBS doesn't have as many correspondents.

Memo To: ALL

Richly-deserved Kudos are being passed around Free Republic over the last few days.

The magnificent insight and efforts of Howlin, TankerKC, TexasForever, ArmyBratProud, Pikamax and BuckHead have culminated in a brilliant tactical victory for those fighting to preserve America's future greatness.

These exciting days and nights remind me of other FreeRepublic heydays, such as the "grassroots" 2000 Election Protests in Broward County, where many a Free Republic patriot (featuring Registered and including my entire family) defended America from it's dangerous domestic enemies.

Then there were the Clinton Impeachment Heroes such as AlamoGirl and others who raised Truth's Standard against the tidal wave of propaganda spewed forth nightly by the socialist battalions marching from ABC-CBS-CNN-NBC-NPR ad naseum.

And who stood quietly in the background, much like Washington's calm and steady demeanor during America's first fight for freedom ?

Jim Robinson.

To Jim Robinson, AlamoGirl, and Registered for your valiant service in the recent past, and Howlin, TankerKC, TexasForever, ArmyBratProud, Pikamax and BuckHead (et al) for your keen and timely defense of America's Republic over the last few days ....

We Salute You All.

Strength and Honor,

Patton@Bastogne

If a problem is going to arise, it will be a few days before the election, just as some bogus "surprise" appears from the opposition. They will want to deny this site the ability to respond. I presume that contingency plans exist.

So, so true. ALL your recommendations should be implemented.

Our community is growing and flexing, and we are fortunate to have this outlet in our lives. We can use it for information, as most do, or we can use it to influence our national lives, and we are seeing more and more of that.

Some people on this forum can take an assignment on the spur of the moment, and out perform the nation's media. Buckhead was the latest, and the current hero. I do not wish to take credit from anyone, but from what I have seen, Howlin is our most prolific guide. If I offend anyone by singling out others, I apologize. There are a lot of winners here. I'm proud to be among you.
