FREEREPUBLIC RECORDS HIGHEST EVER NEW SIGNUPS ON SEP 16, 2004 - WELCOME NEWBIES!
Freerepublic.com ^ | September 18, 2004 | nwrep

The ongoing controversy over the fake CBS documents and the prominent role played in shedding the light on this by Freerepublic.com has caused an unprecendented surge in new memberships on the website.

Thursday, September 16, 2004 should be remembered as a landmark day for this website. On that day, more new users signed up on Freerepublic.com than on any single day before.

Click here for a running tally of daily new signups that the website keeps.

The 390 users signed up on the website eclipsed sign-up spikes caused during other newsworthy events, such as the Florida recount during the 2000 election, and the events of September 11, 2001.

The name of the website has been publicized widely in many media outlets as the source of the first revelation that the CBS memos were forgeries.

According to web traffic tracking site Alexa, Freerepublic.com has shown a remarkable increase in traffic over the last few weeks, as shown below:

Note from founders of the website: Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. In our continuing fight for freedom, for America and our constitution and against totalitarianism, socialism, tyranny, terrorism, etc., Free Republic stands firmly on the side of right, i.e., the conservative side.

For that sign, in these parts, you'd probably have to contribute to my memorial service.

Isn't that sad? I have it on my car...I STILL need to post it so Chieftain can see it. Heck, I need to get it off the camera, first!!

It just ticks me off that WE have to hide. There is NO WAY I'd even consider ruining someone's car because they have a Kerry sticker on it. No way.

Huh.

I'm as old as dirt. Wait. That would be Gramps cuz he's older, and he's also not here to defend himself. :)

Hey we have a statue of Lenin here, north of Seattle.

My new project, suggested by the honorable freeper, Grey Whiskers, is to find a halloween mask of Kerry and slip it on the statue. Whaddya think? Is that funny or what? I love it.

Oh yeah, don't let anyone scare you off with a mean comment about your being new. It happens rarely, but it happens, because we get so many trolls here that we might forget now and then there are genuine newbies.

That is very sweet; thank you. I hope to be able to contribute to the fantastic knowledge that is available via FR. And, I will be careful - I've seen some of that toughness and that is one reason I delayed signing up for such a long time.

>> Can you imagine all the new FReepers who are totally confused by FReeper talk?

There is a FR Lexicon Thread out there somewhere. It needs updating, I'm sure.

Here; badly out of date:

Upper right hand corner, you'll see the word "More"

Click that.

My Profile.

Scroll WAY to the bottom and click "You can edit this page."

At the top, is a Location drop down menu. Find your state and click it if you insist on not moving back here. :)

Then at the bottom, click OK.

There ya have it! BTW, the url I gave you? Look at the number at the end of it. That's YOUR sign up number.

Gorgeous! I love what you did. And that you weren't afraid of color, too. You're on the other coast from us, but I showed my husband your pics. He just did the counters in our kitchen and we still have the floor and cabinets to do.

Nice website.

The mods here are very good. Don't let anyone be abusive to you. No personal attacks - remind people if you need to. We're supposed to be united here, not hurting each other. But we can get emotional.

You start feeling picked on - you give me a ping. We're goat farmers, so I know how to handle obstinate troublemakers. :-)

You offend no one, freeper brother. There are many, many that deserve recognition, and no way to thank them all. But I think the greatest reward is just to know we helped to keep a Free Press truly Free...

If I can get it done I will take a pic and post it here. Now that would be a fun thread!

If I get arrested, you'll come get me out, right? ;-)

My husband likes it too, but I think he could learn from you. Thanks for sharing your work and giving me some ideas...
