IF YOU TRAWL the posting boards at FreeRepublic.com long enough, you'll go mad. Hundreds of voices are shouting, spitting, and clamoring for attention at any given moment. The night of Wednesday September 8 was no different. Following the 8 P.M. airing of CBS's 60 Minutes hit on President Bush's record in the Texas Air National Guard, Freepers were rattling their cages and pinging around the web in anger and disconsolation. On a thread begun in response to a New York Times article about the 60 Minutes story, "tomahawk" wrote, "The MSM [mainstream media] are whores for Kerry, whores for Democrats, and whores for Jihadists. Through their lies and distortions, our country's continued existence is now in doubt."
Amidst this clamor, the post by "Buckhead" could easily have gotten lost. At 11:59 P.M.

Stick around long enough, and you'll see that this place really shines in a crisis. That's when real experts start coming out of the woodwork. When planes crash, pilots and mechanics will chime in left and right. I remember events from the EP-3 to the Columbia to the early days of Afghanistan, (and now 'Rathergate') where people from every range of expertise would step up and contribute.
On a day to day basis, FR is interesting and entertaining. When something big happens, the first thing I think is 'Man, I can't wait to get home and see what's going on at FR'.
(Anyway, you probably don't want to self apply the name 'troll'. Trolls are liberal infiltrators who create dummy accounts so they can be disruptive.)

Yes. I have posted regularly to only one other forum, newsmax, and I stopped posting there when they closed it down 2 years ago. I lurked here for quite a while, (even after I registered) before I started posting. Great bunch of folks posting here.
We're a diverse group (regardless of what the left thinks, we are not one monolithic mentality). I've seen some "wishful thinking" type of analysis in my years here, but I believe that there is a lot more thoughtful posting here.
Bump!
Great use of fonts. CBS and the DNC are reading and taking notes ;)
See link on post #43.
hmmmmmm. Let me guess-Dan rather.
Actually, there are some folks who want to get that thing back. Interpol will be knocking at your door any minute.
Quit your job.
I think we agree. There is more good analysis here than elsewhere.
But the volume of bad analysis here is greater than the volume of good analysis here.
Yes. This is why the blogs are so important to the opinion forums. The blog, in my estimation, serves as the filter for the forums, and drudge and other blogs serve as the reality check from the internet to the MSM. All in all, a better system of checks and balance than anything in the MSM.
LMAO. Great!
We must overcome and adapt, unfortunately I do miss the drudge thread on Sunday night.
I'm deeply offended. Some of us were mad before we found FreeRepublic and those voices came with us.
Well, the blogs are somewhere in between, and have also been shown to promulgate inaccuracies and flawed conclusions.
FR is powerful because it gives voice to a wide range of contributors, and IF a person is a careful reader, one can find leads that DO lead to a more accurate understanding of reality. That is the reader's chore.
Ah. Okay. A shouting, spitting, and clamoring troll. Thanks.
It took us a few years to get to this point...but ladies and gentlement we're there/here!!!!
