IF YOU TRAWL the posting boards at FreeRepublic.com long enough, you'll go mad. Hundreds of voices are shouting, spitting, and clamoring for attention at any given moment. The night of Wednesday September 8 was no different. Following the 8 P.M. airing of CBS's 60 Minutes hit on President Bush's record in the Texas Air National Guard, Freepers were rattling their cages and pinging around the web in anger and disconsolation. On a thread begun in response to a New York Times article about the 60 Minutes story, "tomahawk" wrote, "The MSM [mainstream media] are whores for Kerry, whores for Democrats, and whores for Jihadists. Through their lies and distortions, our country's continued existence is now in doubt."
Amidst this clamor, the post by "Buckhead" could easily have gotten lost. At 11:59 P.M.

Thank you, very much!
Hypocrites. I've seen the greatest of great posters here be able to offer great thought pieces, and then have funny jokes later in the day. How about the MSM? Don't they crack an occasional joke at the water cooler during breaks from their serious work?
Jeez, these detractors are really stretching.
This is what losing the Presidency--after you have salivated for it since being 12 years old as Daddy The Senator's boy--does to a man.
Yes. I've been to DU a few times to read their posts. The Guard AF thing was a laugh riot, as is their current contention that Freeper Buckhead is some kind of plant. The democrats are in full denial, and still sticking to OFS.
What these folks at DU should know is that people like Dr. Newcomer who do not necessarily Bush are not going to go in the tank for kerry and the democrats because they know what Terry and the DNC are trying to pull off. America has seen the evidence and rendered on their judgement IMHO. Rather lied, still lies, and the wheels are coming off of the the DNC and Kerry. Worth noting is how Terry McAwful et al are now using the word sugar-coat. What idiots.
FR is pretty rambunctious at times, and very much so for a new user. This does not make it any less valuable, informative and addicting, once you get past the initial shock.
Besides, compared to DU, this place is a tranquil haven of reason, order and civility.
Again, Praise The Lord that we still have Free ("freeper") Speech!?!
*Gulp*
Just remember hon...there are idiots everywhere. Don't hold it against us when you see some pop up here. This really is a great place to be. Welcome!
Yes. I thought it was a very good summary.
Funny you should ask. Yes he is. He came back last month and is now calling himself snakeoil.
Please read the article. It's very good.
Of course that author of the article did not stay long enough to see the humor, the goodness of people, the prayer lines, the activism, the true effect of a FreeRepublic.
What??
Nothing about "lanterns and pitchforks"?
I'm insulted...
? Who?
Maybe they meant to say, "you'll grow mad."
Sure sums up how I feel while trawling.
Wow. That's not very flattering.
But, IMO, it is not inaccurate either. There is more disinformation and wishful thinking posted on FR, than there is hard, verifiable fact. Read the threads in the wake of the forged memos, and see how many people referred to the IBM Selectric. Read the threads about the AP story, "Crowd booed, Bush did nothing," where Tom Hays was attributed as the original author.
In both of those cases, a few people pointed to relevant facts, and were mostly ignored. That theme is the rule here, not the exception. Mostly wrong, but loaded with information and analyses otherwise not available. It's the interaction and possibility for correction that makes FR a powerful forum. But it is often incorrect on the conclusions.
