Looking at these signoff videos, and seeing how patriotism is fading, I think it'd be a good idea to bring the National Anthem back to TV.
I know it's hard with 24-hour programming...
...but in Colombia, programming is briefly interrupted at 6:00 am and 6:00 pm to broadcast the National Anthem.
Pay special attention to WKFT's, WCSC's, WECT's, WCCB's and WRAL's. Those are awesome renditions of the Star-Spangled Banner.
In Houston, at late night on KTRK-TV, they always play the National Anthem at around 3:00 to 5:00 AM.
If they don't have to sign off, why play signoff programming? To trick viewers into turning the channel?
I say you got too much time on your hands when you start belly aching about THIS kind of stuff
They'd more likely play the Internationale
I know it used to be the practice of radio stations to play the National Anthem at sign-off. There still is a large number of stations that sign off at midnight or thereabouts (particularly those in small markets). I wonder if they still do...I wouldn't know since I'm in the rack long before then.
I know in Houston, KIKK 650 AM used to sign off, which is now the station that airs Howard Stern. I am very surprised no one has called that bias to air the American Anthem among the leftist.
