Who is your favorite conservative radio talk show host?

Posted on 09/17/2004 8:18:26 PM PDT by RedOhio

I was just wondering what everyone's favorite talk radio show is. My favorite is Glenn Beck. Your thoughts?

The weeks I'm working nights, I listen to Medved and Hewett via KRLA.com, then swap over and listen to Prager (via subscription), then pull down Rush's show (also via subscription). By that time, Bill Bennet is on KSKY.com, and I catch the first hour of Laura Ingraham before I go to sleep.

Faves would have to be Prager and Ingraham.

Sean Hannity - All around nice guy, really dig his book.
Michael Savage - Tell is like it is, not afraid to give it both barrels, then reloads.
Glenn Beck - Loud, but explains issues in an entertaining way, early model Gen X'er, being 40, I'm 38, so I can relate to him. Count Hannity in this too, he's 42, technically a Boomer but still close to my age.
Neal Boortz - Too much of a libertarian for me, but he makes many good points.
Bill O'Reilly - Calm traditionalist, takes no bull. Although I disagree with him on a couple of things, he tells it like it is.
Rush Limbaugh - A little trite, but also has good humor, is the "big kahuna" of talk radio.
Jim Quinn - Pittsburgh, Western PA/Ohio Valley talkshow host, tells it like it is, sort of like Michael Savage lite.
Chuck Harder - haven't heard him in a while, right wing populist, I tend to fall into that category.
Art Bell - Libertarian/Conservative, although he focuses on the paranormal, "UFO stuff" and related topics. I get into that stuff a lot, take after my 89 year old grandmother. I know he believes in global warming but tends to believe it is a natural thing and we are largely along for the ride. Knows what quetions to ask on science and the paranormal, let's the audience decide.
Phil Hendrie - Funny, a bit crass though, but good for "craps and giggles."
Mike Gallagher - I've heard him a few times, is OK, disagreed with him on Elian Gonzalez though, but still cool.
Michael Reagan - Good guy,son of Ronald Reagan, nuff said.
Mike McConnell - good weekend conservative talkshow host.
Kim Komando- Although her show is based on computers, she is conservative, supports our troops, a babe too. B-)

Rodger Hedgecock is my favorite. Sean Hannity is wonderful, too, but it's a waste to have him on the radio!

re: Steyn does talk radio? [on Hewitt]

Yeah, and he's great on the radio too.. Speaking off the cuff on any subject he's just as clever as his prose, if that's possible.

Nationally, Rush.

Locally, Vicki McKenna, who was recently accused by a local paper of being the head of the VRWC. And she's been on vacation this week, so who knows what strings she might be pulling behind the scenes?

Oh, that would be WIBA in Madison. She comes on after Rush.

Hedgecock is very bright, informed, and articulate. Used to listen to him regularly in San Diego until Mike Savage took his time slot on another station.

Savage would not deny that he is nuts at least part of the time. Part of his charm.

...all kidding aside...

My favorites come and go. Up here in Minnesota, I used to be limited to KSTP. I am, and probably always will be, a Garage Logician-- but Joe Soucheray tends to be better for the local, commen sense items. He's a little weak on the national stuff.

Jason Lewis was fun to listen to, but we lost him recently to North Carolina.

Tried listening to Savage in the mornings-- but found my blood pressure couldn't take it, and I was increasingly unable to follow his rantings. I miss "Babs and the Boys".

Bob Davis is a good listen in the early mornings-- I'm usually switching between him and Bill Bennett (on the Patriot). As soon as Laura comes on, she pretty much has my undivided attention.

Depending on which client I'm servicing (picture that, won't you!) I'm able to catch a bit of Rush with some Medved mixed in for good measure (depending on what they're talking about).

I have to say my favorite is currently Hugh Hewitt, though. ..and his references to Freepers are always fun!

Rush for analysis - nobody else even comes close.

Hannity for going into the enemy's camp and getting in their faces.

Laura for biting satire - she's fun to listen to.

"Never heard of Phil, he may be in my market, but doubt it."

That was more sarcasm than a recomendation. Beck has flat out stolen material from Hendrie and Hendrie has called him on it.

Talk radio is cut throat. I feel sorry for these guys, because even the most talented are obviously being forced to spew the party line since the medium got so big.
