I am doing some research on the NEW MEDIA. There used to be a thread on here that had some history about how Free Republic started. But I can't for the life of me find it in the archives.
If any of you have links or knowledge on the subject I would surely appreciate if you would post them in this thread.
I have several friends and customers (I FReep in my place of business) who want more info on this site. Further, I also have been asked to give a talk to a local community group about the New Media so I need to get on the ball, and get it all ready in time for the talk.
Thank you all in advance!

Ping for any help you can give.
Make sure you include a diorama for extra credit.
Once upon a time there was a magical place called FreeRepublic. Bad presidents got impeached, good presidents got elected, and everybody posted fun posts all day long while dressed in pajamas. And we all lived happily ever after, except for the part where we explained to our husbands about why we were up after midnight in our nighties posting on FreeRepublic...
THE NOT END
Two words and two initials: Bill "BJ" Clinton.
I know that this may not be exactly what your asking for but it is a great thing to use:

It is the wayback machine. You can see what this site looked like along time ago Dec 21, 1996. Wow!

Hey maybe able to get some of Kerry's old pages that had some of his lies on them before he changed the pages
His antics and disrespect for the institution of the Presidency created a furious, mobilizing backlash that the left and the pundits still cannot grasp.
Free Republic started long time ago
with a guy named Sloppy Joe.....
That is cool. Thanks for the note.

Diorama of "We're Not Sure What This Is Yet, But It Involves Artichokes and Corpses"
bump for interest
Thank you all! I knew I could count on the FReepers!
And Martin you always seem to have some fun ready to post.

Is THIS what you were looking for?History of FR
(by Jim Robinson)I have it bookmarked on my "Links" page.
Artichokes and corpses? I think my laptop is going to need it's keyboard cleaned out now....
In addition, being a member of FR convinced quite a few Freepers to start their own blogs. My little news site is pretty popular. People surf in from about 63 countries world wide every month. (In fact, when we invaded Iraq, I was able to track visitors from Baghdad who logged onto my site from a Russian ISP) My disabilities required me to curtail my efforts at personal commentary. But I still spend about two hours each day posting news reports. Check my tag line.
Wow.
Great post (JR's History of FR)
