Beware of opening PDF's in Firefox. It screws up your Firefox browser and stalls your computer

thats why I went back to IE... I dont use a lot of pdf files, but there was a week or so where I was using them every day. I got annoyed by firefox freezing up on pdfs all the time, so I went back to IE. Haven't gone back to firefox for no other reason than force of habit and laziness

one smart thing firefox has over mozilla is that they adjusted the drop down menu for tabs.

in mozilla, the close this tab selection was right above the "close all other tabs" in the drop down. So if you were zipping along too fast with the mouse, you end up with the tab you didn't want, and all the ones you wanted open were gone.

dont know if that was the reason it was moved, but I bet more than a few people accidently closed all the tabs they wanted...

Firefox is an excellent browser, but you can make it even better by customizing it to meet your needs. IE comes as an 'all in one package', with a lot of 'features' that you may or may not ever need or use. Firefox's developers designed it so that you decide what you want, add it onto your browser, and leave out all the unnecessary baggage. In short, add as much or as little as you desire.

The Acrobat Reader 5.x and Adobe Reader 6.0x installers will automatically detect your browser's plugins folder and install the plugin.

All users of Adobe Reader 6.0.x should update to Adobe Reader 6.02. Download this update.

And Firefox will even lock up your Mac G4.

Firefox was crap on my Mac OSX platform.

Happily went back to Safari...

I had the same problem.

It would run but wouldn't display.

I backed down to 0.9.2 and will sit there for a while.

I haven't upgraded to Firefox 1.0 yet. I usually wait about a week and give them time to work the bugs out, before updating. I'm still cruising smoothly along using Firefox 0.9.3.

Actually in terms of HTML standards, MSIE is incorrect in showing the ALT as a popup. ALT tags should only be shown in place of the graphic (if it fails to load or images are disabled). The TITLE tag is what should be used for the popup.

The lack of ALT tag popup is by design. However, because many sites are coded for IE an extension is available that will provide a "fix".

Popup ALT Attributes will make Firefox behave like IE and provide a popup for the image ALT tags.

Cool. I was thinking maybe it was a Java thing. Thanks!

Note: I updated my Acrobat Professional and fixed the PDF issue. It was a bug in the earlier version.
