Democrats cite vandalism at Lafayette Kerry office
By The Associated Press
LAFAYETTE -- John Kerry campaign signs were burned and pro-Bush messages scrawled on windows and a door at the Kerry headquarters, the chairman of the Louisiana Democratic Party said Thursday. It was the second act of vandalism aimed at the Democratic presidential nominee's campaign office in Lafayette.
Calling it an "an obvious attempt to intimidate our workers, and a misguided attempt to promote the candidacy of President Bush," chairman Mike Skinner said the messages scrawled at the office here included a "huge" W on the front door, and "GWB" and "4+" on the windows.
Bush campaign officials in Louisiana and Arlington, Va. did not immediately return calls for comment. Skinner, a former U.S. attorney in Lafayette, said local law enforcement agencies were investigating the incident.
Lafayette police chief Randy Hundley did not immediately return a call.
Feelings about the presidential race are not running noticeably higher in Lafayette than in other places in Louisiana, Skinner suggested. The city of 110,000 votes conservative, but the Acadian region of which it is capital has a history of supporting moderates, including Democrats.
The campaign signs were burned on the front steps, Skinner said, and the messages were apparently scrawled using a mixture of ash from the signs and motor oil.
In a statement, Skinner called the pisode "undemocratic and downright un-American."
"We have absolutely no idea of who may have been involved," he said. "I can only assume it's some radical rogue individuals."
In the first incident, campaign signs were torn down and thrown in the street, Skinner said.

See, the guy's name was Ivan....
ca ca fe du mal.
Post #2 shows the Kerry ship wrecked campaign!
After 9/11 we had a local diaperhead report theft and vandalism at his business. "We Hate Arabs" was spraypainted on the wall. The local libs said "Not in our Town" and raised almost 100 grand. Turns out the diaperhead was doing poorly and trashed his own place. Wouldn't surprise me if RATS are behind this. It certainly is their MO.
While I sympathize with whoever trashed the Kerry office this is the kind of action we don't need, it just makes us look bad.
kerry's people did it, and everyone knows it.
makes one say hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I see you and I are thinking alike on this matter.
First, I doubt we did it. I believe Kerry did it. Secondly, Kerry would love to recreate another Watergate, with Bush as the target.
Remember, Kerry created his political career by trashing others.
Last Update: 30/08/2004 17:06 Police: Suspected arsonist of Paris Jewish center is Jewish, By DPA and Haaretz Service
PARIS - A man suspected of setting a fire that destroyed a Jewish community center in Paris last week is a Jewish former employee who was taken into police custody early Monday, a police spokesman said.
They probably did it themselves and are trying to blame it on Bush supporters.
What an odd pisode to happen to a Frog.
"We have absolutely no idea of who may have been involved," he said. Right. Nobody saw or heard a thing. Mustaben dem dam wepublicans.
It's almost laughable, the extent they will go through to DAMAGE (instead of win over) the other side. IMHO, this is a typical, juvenile, attempt by supporters or members of the DNC to evoke votes via provoking the public.
Why would any person claiming to be a Republican do something so low and stupid. A Republican is intelligent enough to already know it would look bad for other Republicans. A Republican's child would know he'd get his ass whipped and grounded for a year if he did it.
Only those without respect for this country, the laws of this country, and for their fellow citizens would do something like this.
Or like LIE to the AMERICAN public on national TV, with a reputation as a fair journalist.
Or paint graffitti all over the walls of the offices of government you are vacating.
Or have oral sex while on the phone with foreign diplomats conducting the business of the government.
Or shoot a wounded, underage enemy fighter who is running away, because you think he's the only easy target you will get.
Or LIE to the American Public, and the branches of government, about what American soldiers did in Vietnam
Or protest violently without any investigation of the principles of the protest
I just know I don't want to be in that group, whatever it is.

oops, sorry.
Still think the Lord Almighty is a Democrat ? ;-)
Kerry's people did it!
(Thomas Vallely later became director of the Vietnam Program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University and is a campaign advisor to Kerry today. Where is Cameron?)
