A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Questions linger over Rather's guard service for Kerry
by JohnHuang2
My apologies for the funny looking font and formatting. My trusty ol' IBM Selectric Composer with Microsoft Word that I bought from some Texas colonel 20 years ago is in the shop for repairs. No biggie. It should be ready by next week. Think about the awesome computing power of those Vietnam-era typewriters and imagine going through life without it. Scary, eh?
Anyway, I'm sure you've heard about that huge explosion over the weekend. It was incredible. So massive was the explosion, it sent up a huge mushroom-shaped cloud about 2.5 miles in diameter. I read somewhere that the damage and crater caused by the explosion was big enough to be picked up by satellite. Now, wrap your mind around that for a bit. Over two mile in diameter mushroom-shaped cloud. Imagine the staggering size of the crater. Imagine the scale of the damage!
|
At first some thought the explosion was nuclear but experts now say the mushroom-shaped cloud was just the Kerry campaign going up in smoke. Speaking of going up in smoke, CBS News insists there's no reason to doubt the authenticity of brand new documents dating back well into the last Century about Bush's service record which mysteriously surfaced 1 minute and 2 seconds after the GOP convention ended, at the same time reports about Bush's service record mysteriously surfaced at the Boston Globe, and mysteriously surfaced at CNN and MSNBC and USA Today. CBS News insists there's nothing mysterious and the timing is just a coincidence. (The entire media of the Western world were re-re-re-investigating Bush's service record at the same time by coincidence. Nothing fishy about this at all.) CBS spokeswoman Sandy Genelius says the crew of "60 Minutes", before going to air last week on "60 Minutes" regarding the memos, sat down and examined carefully all the reasonable questions about the documents that could be raised by reasonable critics. Only after this "due diligence" did they go to air. The "due diligence" took about Sixty seconds. Now, only crazed, Halliburton-hugging, fake-turkey-eating 'rightwing operatives' out to get Dan Rather would doubt these memos were generated 32 years ago on a powerful '72 model Microsoft typewriter (capable of sophisticated kerning, auto-superscripting, proportional spacing and more!) owned by computer geek Lt. Col. Jerry Killian who didn't type, didn't keep personal files and spent a fortune to buy a machine that didn't exist just to produce the four memos in question. CBS insists the machine existed.
No such machine has actually been found, despite Free Republic search crews scouring the internet for evidence, fueling questions of whether CBS used faulty 'evidence' or outright exaggerated or manipulated the "evidence" to justify attacking the White House. CBS insists such machines eventually will be found. Anyway, America had the capability and intent to produce them back then, the network insists.
On the "Evening News" last Friday, Rather, pushing to sugar-coat it, revealed that "some people" who are "partisan political operatives" focused "not on the key questions the overall story raised but on the documents that were part of the support of the story." (I have fake documents that are part of the support of the story that Dan Rather was a flaming homosexual in college, but rather than focus on the key questions raised by my fake documents, my fake documents are the focus!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What Rather calls 'partisan political operatives' working for Bush under deep cover includes the L.A. Times, Washington Post, Dallas Morning News, ABC and NBC News -- well known rightwing outfits -- all of which uncovered key facts which undermined Dan after sleuths at Free Republic, wearing pajamas, had already uncovered them. The power of Free Republic and the bloggers had come of age. (But don't get me wrong. These guys aren't real reporters -- there's no pressure to be accurate and objective, no checks-and-balances, lots of junk 'journalism' -- oh wait, that's CBS News.)
The memos, thoroughly vetted by Kitty Kelley and the gang that brought you the canceled Reagan mini-series, reveal that Bush, accused of avoiding service in Vietnam by joining the service during Vietnam in order to fly a Delta-wing interceptor used in Vietnam, got special treatment by a colonel who wasn't even at the Guard at the time who pressured Col. Killian to 'sugar-coat' Bush not taking a flight physical he didn't need to take because he got transferred to Alabama to work on a political campaign. CBS News said these charges of favoritism and Bush not taking an unnecessary physical 32 years ago are new and very damaging. In fact, these charges are so new and damaging, Gov. Ma' Richards used them in '94 to damage Bush to victory over Gov. Ma' Richards. Four years later, challenger Garry Mauro used these same new and damaging charges and damaged Bush to a second term. Two years later, Democrats, convinced they had a winner issue, used these same new and damaging charges and put damaged Bush in the White House.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, four years later, with Bush leading in every poll, you would never guess what new and damaging charges are back in the spotlight. (Hey, now how did you guess that so quickly?) Democrats and Big Media are still in high dudgeon about Bush not seeing that doctor 32 years ago but this time they say they've got the memos to prove he didn't. (To make them look old, James Carville ran the forgeries through Kerry's copier for 15 generations or more. And, indeed, if you look at them closely, they do look really, really old -- musty and yellow. Notice the very heavy wrinkles . . . Oops, that's Rather's face a week into Rathergate.)
|
To authenticate the documents and show Bush did not go see that doctor 32 years ago and is therefore unfit for command, CBS trotted out the only renowned expert on document vetting willing to vouch for CBS: Dan Rather. "If any definitive evidence to the contrary of our story is found," he huffed, "we will report it. So far, there is none." To vouch for the documents further, Rather then trotted out a handwriting analyst who can't vouch for documents because he's a handwriting analyst who says he can't vouch for the handwriting either because CBS provided only photocopies of the documents that are "far removed" from the bogus 'originals' stashed at Hillary! '08 campaign headquarters. Marcel Matley, the analyst, specializes in gauging a woman's "Libidinal energy" from her handwriting, the New York Post reports. Retired National Guard general Bobby Hodges calls the documents forgeries and says CBS lied to him, so CBS continues to call him their "Trump Card" confirming the documents. In CYA style, CBS tried to get Hodges to do intensive document analysis over the phone recently, reading parts of the documents and telling him they were handwritten, in line with CBS's penchant for using handwriting analysts to vouch for documents and document analysts to vouch for handwriting. Now even Col. Killian's former secretary says the documents are fake. Dan Rather says he got the fake memos from a source he considers "solid," from someone in good standing with Dan Rather -- proof it couldn't have been a Republican.
Can the Media and the Democrats put Bush's Guard service behind them? Doubt it. Anymore than they'll ever get over his Top Gun landing on the deck of the carrier Lincoln. I have a theory. In both cases, maybe it's the images of Bush in a Flight Suit that makes them sweat like Dan Rather at a Bloggers' rally. Bush, whose Guard service was so bad, all his enemies can come up with to prove it are fake memos after 32 years of re-re-re-re-investigating. Poor, poor Democrats. Come Election Day, my hunch is that they'll all be on Suicide Watch and hopping around in Bunny-suits. For Democrats, the handwriting is on the wall.
Anyway, that's...
My two cents

How To Be A Friend
Read: Proverbs 27:6-17
A man who has friends must himself be friendly. Proverbs 18:24
Bible In One Year: Proverbs 25-26; 2 Corinthians 9
Our daughter Melissa had many friends during her high school days. One of her best friends was Katie. After Melissa's death in a car accident, Katie told us how they had become friends.
Katie was the new girl in school in fifth grade, having transferred from California. She felt alone and awkward and out of placeuntil one day early in her first year. That's when Melissa noticed her sitting alone on the bus.
Mell got up from her seat, sat down next to Katie, and started asking questions. They sat next to each other every day from then on and became inseparable friends for the next 7 years.
Our world has so many people who need just one act of love to change their lives. These people may not think they fit in, or they may be facing turmoil that makes them feel all alone. Sometimes all we need to do is extend a hand, offer a smile, or speak a word of encouragement. As believers, we know and experience the love of God (1 John 3:16), so we are especially able to reach out to people and share that love.
There are enough people to go around so that everyone can have friends. Let's take the initiative to make sure no one is left out. Dave Branon
I went outside to find a friend
But could not find one there;
I went outside to be a friend,
And friends were everywhere! Payne
When you see someone in need, be a friend in deed.

POW!!! ZAP!!! BAM!!!Outstanding presentation John and dutchess!
Me thinks SeeBS is now wishing they had spent a little more than 60 seconds on their decision to run with this rather embarrassing fairy tale.
Let's see now, we've got 48 days til the election. Kerry brought Teddy on board yesterday to 'help' his sinking campaign. That ought to bring some credibility to this sinking ship. At the rate the Dims are going, total self destruction should take place by the end of week number three.

Rather is faced with overwhelming evidence that the docs are forged and he says look at the big picture. He's also faced with overwhelming evidence that socialism is a disaster and says look at the big picture.
It's amuzing how the big players in the media monopoly hide their left leanings as if it were a strange sexual orientation. I remember a while back when OReilly showed disbelief when a guest made a matter-of-fact comment that Rather is a lefty. I had the same reaction when I found out Walter Cronkite's leanings.
You see, they'd be in a fine pickle if the let's-pretend game was exposed.
Because the game isn't the forgeries. It's that they've been telling us black is white for a half a century and at the same time trashing our heritage. They've air-brushed their ideology, but it too is a forgery.
But, Reagan killed their monopoly when he nixed the "Fairness Doctrine" and then along came Rush. Then the nails in the coffin - the internet and FOX.
Whoa baby! We're on a roll!!

E Mail I received President George W. Bush William Ohse wrote: Our President; The man who admitted to having a drinking problem in younger years, and whose happy-go-lucky lifestyle led him to mediocre grades in college and an ill-fated oil venture. Who mangled syntax, and whose speaking missteps became known as "Bushisms." He came within a hair's breadth of losing the election in November. While votes were counted and re-counted, Bush quietly but confidently waited at his ranch. Make no mistake, his orders were carried out, but he stayed in the background, faithful and confident. Bush named Jesus Christ as Lord of his life on public TV. Not an oblique reference to being "born-again" or having a "life change." He actually said the un-PC-like phrase, "Jesus Christ"! On September 11, he was thrust into a position only known by Roosevelt, Churchill, Lincoln, and Washington. The weight of the world was on his shoulders, and the responsibility of a generation was on his soul. So President George W. Bush walked to his seat at the front of the National Cathedral just three days after two of the most impressive symbols of American capitalism and prosperity virtually evaporated. When the history of this time is written, it will be acknowledged by friend and foe alike that President George W. Bush came of age in that cathedral and lifted a nation off its knees. In what was one of the most impressive exhibitions of self-control in presidential history, President George W. Bush was able to deliver his remarks without losing his resolve, focus, or confidence. God's hand, which guided him through that sliver-thin election, now rested fully on him. As he walked back to his seat, the camera angle was appropriate. He was virtually alone in the scene, alone in that massive place of God; just him and the Lord. Back at his seat, George H. W. Bush reached over and took his son's hand. In that gesture his father seemed to say, "I wish I could do this for you, son, but I can't. You have to do this on your own." Pres George W. Bush squeezed back and gave him a look of peace that said, "I don't have to do it alone, Dad. I've got help." What a blessing to have a professing Christian as President. Please take a moment after you read this to pray for him. He truly does have the weight of the world on his shoulders. Pray that God will sustain him and give him wisdom and discernment in his decisions. Pray for his protection and that of his family. After you have prayed, send this to everyone on your e-mail list. Our President needs Christians around the world to be praying for him. As this makes the e-mail rounds, eventually there could literally be people praying for him 24/7. PS...Praise the Lord for a First Lady who is a Christian! Shirley & Larry Parker P. O. Box 5031 Gun Barrel City, TX 75147 903-451-5031 email: Trout103@aol.com
