Because they're the newest 527 group?

Just look at any of the libs, even on Fox News. Juan Williams and Alan Colmes WANT this story to be true. They don't even want to talk about what CBSnooze and Dan Blather have done. They want to gloss over that and make everyone believe that President Bush is a liar.

Nice post. Worth a bump.

You pose some interisting questions but my brain is fried tonight.

This retirement stuff is hell. I work more at home that I did at work.

Let me think about your comments. Might post later because you did such a nice job.

Plain and simple. For legal reasons. You see, if and when the documents are proven to be fakes, forgeries, if you will, then c-BS and Dan Rather have to disclose their source(s). Which then opens them up to the charge of illegally influencing a presidential election. ie: watergate. Only in this case its memogate.

cBS is doing Kerry's dirty work. This keeps the Swift Boat Vets on the back burner. cBS is helping John Kerry.

As I wrote in another post, this whole thing is giving me flashbacks to when my first child stood in front of me with chocolate smeared all over her face but refused to answer when I asked her if she'd eaten a cookie.

The difference seems to be that my daughter grew up.

Danny, DID YOU EAT THAT COOKIE?

People just do that. When challanged, the don't admit it when they're wrong; they just get huffy.

Observe some exchanges on religion forums or usenet newsgroups.

Dan Rather is a guy digging himself 100 feet deeper into a hole he figures he can't get out of. Maybe he saw the movie "Touching the Void"....where the hero manages to live after breaking a leg & falling a crevasse by crawling DOWN towards what could have been an ABYSS!!!!!!

That's what Dan the Man is doing. Trying to survive by digging to China.

It's not going to work...buy the time the debates come around Bush has relesed ALL his paperwork..

He just says " I have signed my 180 and released all my paperework for the record....why doesn't John F'n "flip-flop fop" Kerry do the same....what's he hiding....?

They defend the lie because everything they do is a lie. Their audience has accepted lies for years, people have used the media as an instructor...as a surrogate for reason.

If you discovered that your 8th grade algebra teacher was making it up as she went, even once, you wouldn't be able to take instruction from her anymore.

They can't lose the unconditional trust because that trust is their mission.

You would have liberals jumping out of windows everywhere if Rather came clean...their instruction is their grounding.

Good question. All I can figure is that there is a whole lot more in the way of "questionable" accusations to come. As it is now, I have to wash my hands anytime I touch the TV or newspaper.

We'll just have to see whether Kerry's still breathing by the time the Swifties are through with him. If it comes out that he got a dishonorable discharge, and he should have, he'll have a very hard time remaining on the ticket.

Its simple, Dan Rather is an egomaniac and CBS stands to lose tens of millions of dollars. How's that for motive?

If CBS is so all-fired sure that the Bush National Guard documents are genuine, why don't they put the typeface/proportional spacing issue to rest forever by producting one of these 1970s-era Selectric typewriters and exactly reproduce the font, spacing, superscript and all that goes with it. The fact that they haven't produced such a typewriter makes me feel there never was a Selectric that could do all that (and no doubt make coffee too). I mean if you have a moose in the bedroom and someone keeps saying there's no such moose, why not open the door and bring it out?

Oh, yes. I like that chronology. I thought all the others (the book, the Rather, the ad, the DEMands) had to be orchestrated--but never put the debates into the picture. You're right--it's too many coincidences. And what does Sherlock say about coincidences?

i can just see w's response..

"you mean questions raised by those forged documents?"

:D

well, the rumor is that CBS has a second hit story floating around in the backroom to be aired in october as its "october suprise" which pins bush as an outright coke head (that is why he did not take the physical).

THAT is probably why they are clinging to it. not to mention, they do not want it to back fire. it looks like everything is okay so far, i have not seen any huge bumps in the polls for bush lately (he is holding steady, though).

It is more understandable now that Burkett has been ID'd as the supplier of the memos. No way does Dan Rather want him to be interviewed by anyone...that's why he is adamant about "protecting his source." But he will be national soon -- what a blast!
