They defend the lie because everything they do is a lie. Their audience has accepted lies for years, people have used the media as an instructor...as a surrogate for reason.
If you discovered that your 8th grade algebra teacher was making it up as she went, even once, you wouldn't be able to take instruction from her anymore.
They can't lose the unconditional trust because that trust is their mission.
You would have liberals jumping out of windows everywhere if Rather came clean...their instruction is their grounding.

You would have liberals jumping out of windows everywhere if Rather came clean...I don't think so. I honestly don't believe that anyone who took Rather seriously last month would be all that effected by irrefutable proof that he is a certifiably perfect fraud this month.
