Just announced on the Chris Baker talk show:
Ken Charles, the Station Manager for 950KPRC in Houston (the largest talk station in Houston) just sent the CBS News VP all his nasty e-mails and told them that CBS will either fire Dan Rather by Monday and come completely clean on the matter or he will take CBS News off the air of his radio stations (he manages two of the largest in Houston).
He took Dan Rather's 4pm top of the hour brodcast off effective immediately and replaced it with Fox news.
He said he will find a way to cancel the CBS contract if they do not resolve this in a manner that retains their credibility as a news source.
Thanks She Lion, this is item two of todays update, Thanks, we appreciate it. http://www.christian-news-in-maine.com/september11-2004.htm#Thursday%20update
BUMP
I heard him say all this and hooted him on as I was driving down the road. I am quite proud of the stand that Ken Charles has chosen to take.
I hope so.
Yes, and I switched them off permanently because of their mourning the passing of the AWB. Hendee came on the other morning, threw out a bunch of falsehoods, half-truths, and mischaracterizations of the issue, then declared the discussion over with and wouldn't take any more calls on the subject.
If I want that sort of behavior, I can just listen to Dan Rather.
HOWEVER . . . this morning, CBS was the newscast on KPRC. No Fox. I am deeply saddened, and a bit puzzled.
Ken Charles said that he would replace Rather at 4:00pm and if this issue is not resolved satisfactorily then he will try to break the contract with ABC and not run them at all.
Yeah, but he also dumped Michael Reagan and put on that lame Lance guy with his equally lame financial show. If I gotta listen to a financial show, at least make it Bruce Williams!
Ah, just for that hour? That explains it. Ken's got large ones, so I expect this will get FAR more interesting.
!!!!!!!!!!!!
...though, didn't the station manager said he'd find a way to dump CBS if Rather isn't fired by _Monday_? In which
case maybe they're giving the folks at "Black Rock" a few
days to act before they pull the plug (assuming their
contract would allow them to pull the affiliation before
the end of the contract)

950KPRC - Houston
I caught part of Michael Reagan on KSEV last night (around 11:30pm). Don't know if he's back in the rotation or if it was an error where it accidently went over the air (I've heard a few minutes of Michael Medved aired locally this way).
remember the effect "new media" had on Slimfast/Whoopi Goldberg! Well, this is much bigger. Granted it will take more of an effort to get Rather to resign, but even the discussion is worth it!

"WOW...this is the American way in action."
No doubt, makes me feel redeemed for all those emails to CBS sponsors that I've been writing.
FGS
hahaaa! That is great! :^D
Ken Charles is DA MAN!!
