I wrote to non-management directors, of Viacom. I warned them that saving Rather and dems and Kerry wasn't worth damaged reputation, and advertizing revenues.
So I agree with you. I'll wager the CBS News division is NO LONGER calling the shots. They have been shown to have biased, very bad judgement.
So if the lawyers are saying "not with my law license" I say great.
Do they need a license, to broadcast on TV? Which party is in power?

I believe rush mentioned that a very likely reason they are going to the matresses on this is that if the source turns out to be connected in any way to the Kerry campaign, then the campaign will be toast, a lot of democrats looking to win elections this november will be toast, SeeBS will have no credibility for years and, less importantly, Rather would be fired immediately.
Can you imagine the impact to this country and the liberals if almost all the democrats running this november lost to Republicans?

I just heard part of the statement on CBS radio news. Andrew Heyward CBSNews pres, says we wouldn't have done the story if we didnt think the docs were legit, but since SO MANY DOUBTS have been raised we will redouble our efforts to confirm the docs.
TRANSLATION: HOW DARE YOU PLEBES DOUBT US! SINCE ABC, WAPO ETC HAVE JOINED YOU, WE HAVE TO DO MORE WORK TO TRY TO FOOL YOU AGAIN. THIS IS VERY INCONVENIENT, DON'T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!

he's been pushing this since 2000. I'm sure he's had discussions with Burkett, and may have even given the forgeries to Burkett.
For those of you who are late arriving to this thread, let me summarize what we now know:
1) CBS hasn't yet determined which lie to use to cover their original lies.
2) Howlin is a she.
If the attorneys were involved, it could any number of items, including:
The SEC considered 48 hours, but went with 4 days instead. Reg FD is still 2 days, but probably wouldn't cover this event.
