Does anyone know who Marty Heldt is? Does he have a connection with the Kerry campaign?Wizbang thinks maybe Marty Heldt gave the memos to CBS.
Here is a Tom Paine.com article about him.

We alreadyt know the secretary doesn't like Bush and has said the memo could have been true but probably wasn't. She said the memo represented how Killian felt about Bush.
Now the proper way to run a real unbiased story would be to put Killians son and wife on to rebut, which they have done already too.
Lets sum up... CBS runs story based on forged documents supposedly written by a man who is dead and cannot be questioned. The mans son and wife claim he really liked Bush and had respect for him. They claim he would never have written such a thing about Bush. CBS finds his 86 year old secretary to confirm their story and DOESN'T EVEN REPORT KILLIANS FAMILIES STATEMENTS.
Its awesome to know we have a front row seat for the end of the MSM and the Dem party. History is being made.

CBS must be trying to beat the FOX News ratings for the day.
With all the damage they have done to the Kerry campaign, maybe they will start supporting Bush.

As Soon as the hands on my Dan Rather watch stop spinning.

"Kurtz says right now, CBS is interviewing Killian's secretary." This nearly dead, but sweet old lady is going to save CBS?"
I think they will stick with their story that what was said in the documents was factual and it doesn't matter the docs were fake. They they'll do a sensitive and sweet interview with the 86 year old woman, who will verify the intent. Then they'll close with "we stand by these verified documents and hope the VRWC shows respect by shutting up and not attacking a helpless little old lady (or us either for that matter). Mrs PD

Ugh...lemme guess...a two hour full of hot air slam against Bush and anyone who would doubt the intregrity and honesty of CBS and to prove it they have an old lady with three stories...now which one works best for you?

damn, they may have Buckhead in a back room, a pair of helen thomas' panties on his head, and Barry Manilow music playing in surround sound. Damn.
FREE BUCKHEAD!

Nice idea, but notes made in his role as an officer in the military are not private property. They may either be "classified," "proprietary," or "public domain." As they seem to be related to personnel issues, I think they may not be available under FOIA, so they are probably military proprietary. All this assumes they are not forgeries - which they are most certainly - but from a perspective of a lawsuit, there are probably grounds to go after CBS.
To: Bahbah
Are you saying that is an acutal photo of Kerry? I've seen other photos of him on Kennedy's yacht, so it's possible that it is him... now respond to the content!

Since it would be a firing for cause, I would think they'd whack Rather and disclose virtually simultaneously. I doubt SOX would require a delay in firing to notify if you caught the CEO stealing: he'd be out the door (with a disclosure release) within a few hours of the board getting the evidence.
I think this thing got away from Rather and CBS as the Viacom corporate and securities lawyers had to sign-off, and when they saw the proposed strategy, they said "not with my law license".
