FReeper Research Needed: What Evidence is There that the DNC or Kerry Gave CBS the Forged Docs?

Posted on 09/14/2004 5:42:26 AM PDT by jmstein7

Once again, there is an opportunity for FReeper research to make a big difference in this election.

If you have any evidence on the following questions, please post it to this thread.

1) Anything that suggests that the DNC is the source of the forged memos, i.e. that the DNC provided CBS with the forged Guard documents

2) Anything that suggests that the Kerry campaign is the source of the forged memos, i.e. that Kerry's camp provided CBS with the forged Guard documents

If we can get this evidence and make the connection, and get it out to the 'blogosphere, this election will be over.

Start digging!

FR isn't in the business of spreading lies and/or disinformation.

"To this day I still use 2 spaces after a Period (.). Funny younger folks don't..."

I was also taught to put two spaces after a colon and semi-colon, but Bill Gates/MS Word thinks that's wrong and highlights it as an error. .

I agree, but I think your estimate may be too young. I'm 29 years old and was never tought to use "l's" in place of "1's." Simalarly, I was tought to single space after a sentance in contradiction to the double space that appears in the memos. My elders teaching me at the time were 15- 20 years older than myself, therefore I find it likely that the suspect in question is late 40's to early 50's. This would futher emphasize the simplistic errors of the subscript default (backspace cancellation) ect... It is less likely that a person in this age bracket would be proficient in MSWord

Just because you were taught to single space and use the numeral key for a 1 doesn't mean that the person who wrote the memo was older. At 29, you were probably taught to type using a computer (probably one of those free Apples that Billy Gates was giving away to schools at the time). If you were taught on a computer, then it makes sense that you would be single-spacing and using the numeral 1 rather than the letter l. Even though your teacher was older he/she would have known the differences between a computer and a typewriter.

If you wonder how I might be so knowledgeable about this, my two oldest are 34 and 29. I remember distinctly that time. We are a family of geeks and actually got our first IBM in 1984, but by the time the kids got to high school, the schools had new computers to teach typing.

By the way, welcome to Free Republic.

One word of advice from an old hand... you will be taken a lot more seriously if you take more care with your spelling. There is even a handy "spell check" button for you to use.

I posted this on another thread. Wanted to put it on the official research thread as food for thought.

A caller on Boortz today spoke of the forensic aspect of the documents. Nothing new, but he gave me some things to think about.

There is no way this was wrttien by a person familar with military procedure. He/she may have be familiar with general military operations, but not procedures.

He said to remember...they were not written for those in the time period of the early 1970's. They were written for us, the people of 2004. Hence, they are written to point us in a general direction of thought.

I am having my doubts these memos came from anyone in the Air Force, TANG, or any other branch of the Armed Forces. These were written by an amatuer. Way too sloppy.

This story has been in the Public Domain for years and years. A google search will list all of the charges the dems have been making. The only thing new is the slant.

So we need to make a list of suspects and eliminate them according to their military experience. And then we need to proceed from there. This will be done only by a process of elimination. The facts might bear out who did not write the memo. But as long as we are looking for who did write that memo, we may never discover the truth.

Kerry has used his brother Cameron
and his war buddy Thomas Vallely before to do opposition
'research' (watergate style breakin).

Kerry seems to fall back on the aid of Vallely whenever
he is attacked for his vietnam record.

[in 2002] Kerry says that if he is attacked in the way that McCain was attacked by George W. Bush before the South Carolina Republican primary in 2000, he would not hesitate to tap "other resources."

http://rope.wrko-am.fimc.net/howie/xfiles/kerry/kerry_1.htm

Vallely was just sent out of the country about a week ago
to Israel...

My theory is that was for PLAUSIBLE DENIABILITY

Not me. I took a typing class in high school. That would have been in 87-88. Believe it or not, we had typewriters. They had the full Qwerty keyboard and were electric (Royal I think), but they weren't computers. The school did have Apple computers, but not enough for an entire classroom to use. There was maybe one or two per class.

Rush said the DNC received the documents, gave them to the Kerry campaign, and they in turn gave them to CBS.

I don't know where Rush got that info.

"FR isn't in the business of spreading lies and/or disinformation."

There are some postings on FR which are deadly serious in their intent, outrage and frustration, some are postings from real experts on a topic which are intended to enlighten, some are meant more to amuse and are not to be taken seriously and some are meant to be ironic or satirical. If you are going to get the full benefit of freerepublic's range of thought you must develop the capacity to distinguish one from the other without the need for freepers to add, "I'm only kidding" or, "satire off" at the end of their posts.
In other words, try to drop the condescending attitude if you have trouble making out the posters intent.

I took typing in 1969 (I was in 8th grade), so I would be able to type my term papers better when I started high school. I was taught to double space after the period at the end of a sentence, and to use the letter l for the number one. I started doing part time work for a family friend that year. His office was in a Transamerica Insurance Office. At that time none of the typewriters in the office where I worked even had the number one on them, so we had to use a lowercase letter l. In 1975 I went to work in the banking industry and very few of the typewriters even then had a number one. It wasn't until about 1980, that I ever typed on a typewriter with a number 1 on it. I finally over came the impulse to use the lowercase l, but to this day I still put two spaces after the period at the end of the sentence.

Having spelled out the game plan on FR, you can't really expect a Double Ought Spy plan like that to work, can you? Loose lips still sink ships.

I wonder how long Rather would maintain his source's confidentiality if a lot of people started writing to CBS and expressing the opinion that Rather must have faked the documents himself...

One of the documents had the expression "CYA" at the top of the page. Does anyone with a military background know if this kind of slang was allowed in , or commonly found in, official military documents of that era?

I'm not sure, but it does say in the bible that Moses tied his ass to a tree and walked twenty miles.

But .. according to a CBS staffer, they have been looking into these charges ever since Bush FIRST RAN FOR GOVERNOR - and Ann Richards brought up the charges. Evidently the CBS staff has been putting out feelers to people in Texas about "did you ever see any documentation regarding Bush refusing an order; Bush being AWOL; Bush doing a bad job; Bush not being a good pilot, etc, etc, etc.

"Then .. as if by MAGIC this group of documents was given to us in this neat little package."

It appears somebody was listening to the questions CBS was asking and decided to fill their order.

I believe what Rush said today is true, CBS knows who these people are but because of their DEMOCRAT relationship, CBS will refuse to expose them. And .. here was Scarborough last night saying he just could bring himself to believe that Dan or DBS would be involved in this .. which shows how willing the media is to believe Dan regardless of what crimes he's committed. It also shows why these people continued to support Clinton even when confronted with the truth about him.
